Black orchids are one of the protected orchid species in Indonesia because they are threatened with extinction in their natural habitat. Black orchid in Latin called Coelogyne pandurata is the identity flora (mascot) of East Kalimantan province. The population of black orchids (Coelogyne pandurata) in the wild (wild) habitat is increasingly scarce and has decreased drastically due to shrinking forest area and hunting for sale to orchid collectors
