Hello and Namaste Steemit friends. This is my first post about the benefits of Yoga.Hope it encourages you to start practicing Yoga!

Weight loss, a strong and flexible body, glowing beautiful skin, peaceful mind, good health – whatever you may be looking for, yoga has it on offer. However, very often, yoga is only partially understood as being limited to asanas (yoga poses). As such, its benefits are only perceived to be at the body level and we fail to realize the immense benefits yoga offers in uniting the body, mind and breath.

As it happens, Western science is starting to provide some concrete clues as to how yoga works to improve health, heal aches and pains, and keep sickness at bay. Once you understand them, you'll have even more motivation to step onto your mat, and you probably won't feel so tongue-tied the next time someone wants Western proof.

Improved flexibility is one of the first and most obvious benefits of yoga. During your first attempt, you probably won't be able to touch your toes, never mind do a backbend. But if you stick with it, you'll notice a gradual loosening, and eventually, seemingly impossible poses will become possible. You'll also probably notice that aches and pains start to disappear.Regular yoga practice, stretches and tones the body muscles and also makes them strong. It also helps improve your body posture when you stand, sit, sleep or walk. This would, in turn, help relieve you of body pain due to incorrect posture.

We all love to visit peaceful, serene spots, rich in natural beauty. Little do we realize that peace can be found right within us and we can take a mini-vacation to experience this anytime of the day! Benefit from a small holiday every day with yoga and meditation. Yoga is also one of the best ways to calm a disturbed mind.It helps to achieve greater levels of happiness and better immune function.

3. Yoga for weight loss

The desire of many ! Yoga helps here too. Moreover, with regular practice of yoga, we tend to become more sensitive to the kind of food our body asks for and the time we take. This can also help keep a check on our weight. Weight loss poses that will help burn fat and build muscle tone.

6.Helps you Sleep Better

Stimulation is good, but too much of it taxes the nervous system. Yoga can provide relief from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Another by-product of a regular yoga practice, studies suggest, is better sleep—which means you'll be less tired and stressed and less likely to have accidents.

7.Better Concentration

When you practise yoga, you need to be attentive and follow the instructions closely about how to coordinate the breath and movement, and which leg or arm to move. This is also called Yoga for the brain, and it makes you very sharp. You tend to pay more attention to detail.With enhanced blood circulation in the brain and reduction in stress, your memory is also bound to expand.
