World Health Organization declares Medical marijuana has NO public health risks.

We are the early stages of the world waking up to the benefit of Medical Cannabis, after months of deliberation the World Health Organization (WHO) finally acknowledges that it should not be withheld from patients.

Anyone in the cannabis community who is knowledgeable about its use as natures medicine will tell you that cannabis use does help with many ailments. Well the WHO has finally declared medical marijuana is beneficial for cancer, epilepsy, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other diseases. The organization found the drug is not addictive and holds no public health risks.

I found an article posted on the Dailymail.co.uk which discusses how the WHO declared CBD, the relaxant property of cannabis used in medical marijuana, should not be a scheduled drug.

Below are a couple of exerts from the articles and the actual report posted on the WHO website :

But today, after months of deliberation and investigation, the WHO has concluded that cannabidiol (CBD) is a useful treatment for epilepsy and palliative care, and does not carry any addiction risks.

'There is increased interest from Member States in the use of cannabis for medical indications including for palliative care,' the report said.

'Responding to that interest and increase in use, WHO has in recent years gathered more robust scientific evidence on therapeutic use and side effects of cannabis and cannabis components.'

In other words, they admit they see the benefits of products with CBD. I think it should be readily available and I have been saying that for years.

Living in Canada, we are the first country in the G7 to legalized Cannabis for recreational use, we have had medical cannabis laws in place for a long time, yet up until recently products with only CBD was not available, even if it was made from Hemp. CBD products are now available from the licensed producers, but Health Canada did not allow CBD from Hemp to be used in various products, it was still banned and for now still is, but that could change in the coming year.

Over the coming years, we will hear more about all the different uses of the cannabis plant and the world is finally waking up to the fact that cannabis is not as harmful as the govt's tell you.

I have been involved I the cannabis industry for 4 years and throughout that time I have gained quite a bit insight into the plant and its medicinal properties... the lies we have been told about cannabis will come to light over the next few years. Cannabis has been used as medicine for 1000's of year and up until about a 100 years ago when government decided it was harmful and banned it after probably getting paid from lobbyists with an agenda.

It will be interesting to watch Governments around the world change their stance on cannabis and at a minimum allow for their citizens to use it for medical reasons. Products with CBD are readily available in the US and in many parts of Europe, now that the WHO admits to its benefits only validates what community has been saying for decades.

This is just a plant that comes from nature... it should never have been illegal in the first place.

Marijuana has been used as medicine dating back thousands of years, with there being evidence it was used by ancient Egyptians, The Chinese, and Hebrews all have writings describing the benifits of using marijuana. Its nice the world is rediscovering its purpose. Like it says in the Bible in the book of genesis "God gave us every seed bearing plant on this earth to use"

Leave it Gov'ts and special interest groups to make a plant illegal, it's not like most of the population want to do that. The gov'ts are losing control of the narrative around cannabis, so they are now just going to take control of the industry, we have seen that happen in Canada and will be the same in most countries around the world.

That's some pretty excellent news. I agree, CBD should be available to everyone, worldwide. I'm glad I'm alive to see the changes for the good.

Thanks for a great post!

The same thing was said about cigarettes years ago. Know look at the complications tobacco cause.. History repeats itself. I do belive there are benefits though. But i dont believe there are 0 repercussions

Smoking cannabis may not be suitable for patients, the fact one is inhaling the combustion is not the way to go. Patients can Vape, buy oils, pills, tinctures, patches and even delivery methods that have nanoparticles, we are entering a new world with cannabis us as medicine and it will be available in many forms for all patients, yound and old.

Yup. I think long term research needs to be done

Great post, very informative.

Its a shame they wont do more over here in the UK to grow CBD as a crop for our dwindling farm industry.

I am sure they will come around to it eventually. The price of CBD will remain high for quite some time because of govt laws and regulations around growing Hemp with CBD, it is a heavily regulated market which requires permits. Every country should start growing hemp again, there are 1000's of uses for it. If all the CBD was collected from mass the growing of hemp, the supply of CBD would increase significantly and drive the price down... that will make the medicine abundant and relatively cheap for consumers.

Great post. I'll start following you.
I'd like to see WHO declare THC cures CANCER, that's what I would like to see immediately...

@surfyogi, thanks for the follow. I am impressed that the WHO declared CBD safe and acknowledges that Cannabis is no public risk. This is part of the process to legalize cannabis worldwide (at least CBD for now as medicine), it will be a long journey but it will happen over next decade. I have been providing coverage on the Cannabis sector for 4 years on http://www.investinmj.com, the Steem Community interested in Cannabis can get more info on that site and many other sites I post on.
