In this post I am talking from personnel experience, here is my story.
Late one night about 5 years ago I awoke from a dead sleep in excruciating pain. The pain was in my left groin and felt like a ice pick driven into my gut. I had never experienced anything like it. I called a fellow Medic who was on duty at the Fire Station instead of calling 911 and having everyone in scanner land know it was me. By the time he got there I was about going out of my mind with pain. I resigned myself to a IV and the morphine soon followed. The pain was nearly gone within a few minutes wheww. I was transported to a local ER were I was quickly diagnosed with a kidney stone. I couldn't believe it here I was the guy who normally takes sick people to the hospital, now I was the Patient. I was admitted to observation and a short time later was seen by a urologist who said I would need surgery. The stone was 6mm and was lodged in my ureter at the entrance to the bladder but was to big to big to pass. I had surgery and thankfully was out for it as they stick a instrument up and into your manhood until they visualize the stone and pull it out. After the surgery I was sent home and told that they left a stint in me that had to be removed. Didn't seem to bad, boy was I wrong. A friend who had been through the same surgery warned me to premedicate myself with a few extra of the pain pills I had been sent home with. I said you mean they don't put you out for the stint removal??? Nope. What happened next can only be described as a day from hell. My wife drove me to the doctors office were I was escorted to the back and was greeted , if that's the right word by a nurse who could only be described as nurse Cratchet from" One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". Bedside manner and gentleness were not traits she possessed. I asked if there were any anesthetics she just smiled Ugg. She grabbed hold of my manhood and the doctor did the rest, the stint was soon out but is was very painful and made me know I never wanted to go through this again and so my research began. The urologist wanted me to have a Pet Scan as he said Ultra Sound had showed several more stones in my left kidney. What my research revealed was that kidney stones are often made of of excess calcium and that magnesium is a fantastic way to shrink and dissolve stones. It really really works. When I first tarted taking it I would take 500 to 750 mg at night[as it will help you sleep] My urine would literally look like milk, the stones were dissolving. It has been 5 years and I am stone free. I still drink lots of coffee and I sometimes get kidney pain but I just take a few extra Mag and the pain gos away, much better for you than pain meds. I take magnesium every day as it has many other health benefits as well. One important note, magnesium is often found with calcium in a supplement known as Cal-Mag. DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU HAVE STONES. I recommend Jigsaw brand Magnesium with SRT. It has worked great for me and they are not paying me to say this as I am nobody. Just someone who is trying to help others to not have to go through what I went through. So if you are having kidney pain , flank pain or already no you have stones give this a try. Even the cheap stuff from CVS works and it sure beats the 30,000.00 cost of a surgery.
Just imagine one of these nasty little things trying to pass through your tender parts.
