Degenerative disease

in #health8 years ago

Osteoarthritis or OA is a degenerative disease which affects the joints, making movement restricted and/or painful. Exercise can help prevent or manage OA, leading to a healthier and fuller life.
For those who want to prevent OA, exercising will improve your strength and help develop muscles which control joints. By exercising regularly, one significantly reduces their risk of OA as well as help in reducing any possible joint pains.
For those who have OA, exercising can help with your flexibility, range of motion, and endurance. But before doing any type of workout, remember to consult a physical therapist or a doctor to find out what is best for you.
Those who are suffering from OA can participate in activities such as:
• Gentle stretches can help with your range of motion and flexibility
• Water aerobics is a low impact and fun physical activity which can help build strength without any worry about join pains
• Arm Circles is a simple activity which can help with one’s range of motion as well as help build arm strength
• Half squats are great for knees and legs; if half squats are a little too difficult, you can start out by standing up and sitting down on your favourite, comfy chair to get your knees and legs started.
