Having the ability to focus and concentrate is vital in almost everyone's life in some form. Many people often find it hard to concentrate and focus for long periods of time, or even have a hard time to getting something started. Whether it be for a test, working on a project, or just everyday activities, it is important to be able to focus. Luckily, there are some ways in which you can increase your concentration and focus levels.

Certain techniques such as meditation and yoga have been shown to help the mind focus and are highly recommended. Also, there are some foods that can give your concentration and focus levels a boost. Here are 7 foods that may do just that.

1) Salmon, Trout, Mackerel

These kinds of fish are loaded with omega-3. which has been shown to help improve concentration and brain focus. By having affect on our cognitive processes, we are able to think clearer and focus better. These foods also contain anti-inflammatory properties that will protect the cells of the brain and keep them functioning at optimal levels.

2) Tomatoes and Berries

Tomatoes and berries are very high in vitamins A, C, and E. These foods can help with the functioning of the brain and its ability to focus by maintaining sufficient blood flow.

Also, these foods contain properties that are anti-inflammatory, which help protect the brain.

3) Nuts

Nuts have been shown to be beneficial to our cognitive process because they are loaded with vitamin B6. Vitaming B6 has a direct affect on our concentration levels and memory, so getting B6 would help with focus and concentration. Research also shows that vitamin B6 can play an important role in protecting us from such diseases as Dementia and Alzheimer's.

4) Dark Chocolate

A high quality dark chocolate has many health benefits including improving focus and concentration. Dark chocolate can increase endorphin and serotonin levels, both of which can help improve brain function. Also, dark chocolate contains several vitamins and anti-oxidants. However, it is important not to take in too much dark chocolate because it can reduce the positive effects.

This may seem as a simple idea, but it is really effective. A large percentage of our bodies is made up of water and not consuming enough of it can lead to many problems. One of the first things that can happen is dehydration. Without consuming enough water, it will cause mental fatigue to set in and you will not be able to think clearly.

When people feel the need for a caffeine fix, they most likely reach for coffee. The thing with coffee is the added calories you get from adding sugar and milk. A great alternative would be green tea. Green tea will be a better option because you won't be getting those added calories but still get the benefits. In addition, green tea is high in ant-oxidants, which helps in the protection of brain cells.

Bananas are a quick and easy way to get a boost in your focus and concentration. Bananas are loaded with potassium, an essential chemical for the brain. Potassium helps to keep your nerve cells and brain working properly. Combine this with other foods listed above and you should never be short of focus or concentration again.
