I feel honoured writing about the important of post natal care, which i just recently join the movement of promoting immunization and Ante natal care. But today is for postnatal only.
I just read about the Anti-Vaccination movement written by @reddust, which i was little bit convinced and also sad, because i have seen how vaccines really improve the life of people in my country; Nigeria.
So these are the vaccines and their meaning;
- Hep b: Hepatitis B.
- OPV: Oral Polio Vaccine.
- BCG: Bacillus Calmette Guerin.
- PCV: Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine.
- ROTA: Rotavirus Vaccine.
- IPV: Inactivated Polio Vaccine.
- Vitamin A.
Postnatal care as the initial care that every woman and baby should be offered during the 2 to 3 days.
Importance of postnatal care
During the first 6 to 8 weeks after birth are critical for the health and survival of a mother and her new born. The time for baby is during the hours and days after birth and lack of care during this time may result in death as well as missed opportunities to promote health behaviours affecting women and new born.
So i will like to write about the routine immunization schedule. Which are;
- Birth- BCG, OPV, HEP B (OPV and Hep B. must be given within the first 2 weeks of delivery).
- 6 weeks-OPV1, Pentavalent 1, PCV1, ROTA1 (ROTA 1& 2 to introduced in 2018).
- 10 weeks-OPV2, Pentavalent2, PCV2, ROTA2).
- 14 weeks-OPV3, Pentavalent3, PCV3, IPV.
- 9 months- Measles and Yellow Fever.
After reading the Anti Vaccination movement written by @reddust, make me want to do more research on it. So thanks @reddust for your research.
