I want to share the bullying of medical professionals I have dealt with between Thursday and Saturday last week.
1. I was contacted by some parents who delivered at UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas. Delivery without complication, healthy baby, breastfeeding mother, ready for discharge the following day. The hospital/ pediatrician called CPS on the parents for refusing the erythromycin eye ointment. Now in Texas, there previously was a law calling for the providers to be criminalized if the eye ointment wasn't given at birth by a class B misdemeanor with a fine or jail time. This law was ridiculous in the first place. This eye ointment is meant to treat possible chlamydia or gonorrhea. Fine. These parents had prenatal care and confirmed lack of disease. If hospitals can have complex algorithms in a standing newborn order set for all sorts of other issues, I'm pretty sure the staff can follow an order like- give eye ointment if no prenatal care or mom positive for XYZ. Not hard. September 1 a new law went in to place decriminalizing the staff if parents refused the treatment. Now, I would like to point out that NEVER has it EVER said ANYWHERE, that the answer to a parent refusing the unnecessary antibiotic eye ointment for THEIR CHILD was to call CPS. The pansy doctors came up with this to save their own butts. As if anyone actually is going to know or care that a child didn't get it when they have no risk factors. This isn't a nanny state- yet. These parents even went so far as to print out the new law and hand it to them, and they STILL called. To give some reality to these whiny providers- the region of the state where they reported this family had over 38,000 active investigations in 2016. The average case worker is responsible for 28 children a day, far over the 17 a day recommended by national best practice reports. But by all means UTSW and the attending pediatrician, let's make them run over to this family's house the NIGHT THEY ARE DISCHARGED, to deal with THIS NONSENSE!! Talk about not having your first night at home with your newborn not go the way you planned. I'll be sending everyone involved a letter.
2. A mom was sent to Dallas Children's ER by a family practice doctor because a 4 month old infant had a 104 fever. The fever was easily reduced by Tylenol and the infant became far more comfortable. The infant was nursing, voiding, stooling normally without lethargy or any other concerning symptom. The child was just uncomfortable at times. Mom refused the 48 hours of IV antibiotics "in case" it was bacterial with the ER doctor even admitting it was most likely viral. The family spent the next 40 hours being harassed by staff, often more than one of them at a time, saying things like- "so you are ok if your baby dies then!!". Talk about a stressful 2 day process. Baby was discharged at 40 hours, all labs negative, bacterial cultures negative, still feeding well, with a discharge diagnosis of "likely viral". The hospital called the family to harass them on the weekend about making a follow up physician appointment for Monday, even though the office of the referring physician is closed. What? Are they going to call CPS next because the parents were right that their child had a virus that would clear with time?? I saw this patient during my lunch break Tuesday to get the hospital off their backs. The baby looked fantastic and thankfully still had his micro biome still in tact!
3. I was contacted about a family with a child needing a kidney transplant who has yet to be placed on the transplant list because the child is not up to date on vaccinations. The family has been told that they refuse and will continue to refuse to put the child on the transplant list until ALL vaccinations are given. A- this is the parents choice. B- A chronic or acute disease is a direct contraindication for vaccination. C- Elimination pathways of toxins include KIDNEYS, liver, skin, GI tract. Sooooo why are we going to shoot a kid without kidney function full of toxic material such as mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, polysorbate 80, antibiotics, fetal cells, animal tissue from a variety of animals, etc.? Apparently Physicians For Informed Consent told them to contact me for help. They wanted me to provide research articles so they could give them to the medical staff in hopes of changing their mind. I told them to not waste their time and just go viral with this egregious act of medical neglect/ tyranny/ paternalism instead, and that I'd be happy to make it happen.
This is 48 hours folks. FORTY EIGHT HOURS garners me contact with all of this. Just thought I'd given you a glimpse. Everyone out there who rolls over and takes this crap- all the patients, parents, the nurses, doctors, healthcare workers, people with a conscience that knowingly roll over and allow the medical system to do this to you, THIS is what you are aiding and abetting. Never, ever forget that.
