We know various types of food items that have many good things for our body. But there also certain types of man made food items that are artificial in nature, and carry more defects than good quality when it comes to our health. We can find a prolonged debate on the merits of several foods items, which involve alcohol and soft drinks.
Which one is better for our health?
Since, we cannot avert quality food items during social interactions; we would have to do well to opt for a healthier food. The following details are required to know in order to make the healthier choice between soft drinks and alcohol.
1. Kilo calories
Adequate amount of kilo calories are found in both alcohol and soft drinks with one cola that contains over 1000 kilojoules. However, according to this parameter, choosing soft drinks would be more healthy option because despite both having same amount of calories, people drink soft drinks at a slower speed, which proves that they are drinking less amount of it. Once you began drinking alcohol, you tend to consume it more and at a faster pace. Also when you start drinking alcohol, you feel hungry, which indicates that you are going to start consuming several types of snacks and unhealthy food. In such conditions, your weight will be increasing much faster if you drink alcohol all time. This is not going to happen when you opt for soft drinks.
2. Toxins
The fermentation way of the alcohol makes sure that it is filled with a lot of toxins, which is harmful for your heart and liver lastly. These toxins may block your arteries and the liver may be dysfunctional due to complications created by it.
3. Glycemic index
Glycemic index is counted in accordance with the level of insulin resistance in one’s drink of choice. The glycemic resistance is much higher in alcohol. It means if you drink alcohol, then you have higher insulin resistance in comparison of other soft drinks, which have adequate amounts of sugar content. In this way, the alcohol is the unhealthier drink. If it is taken too much, it can cause diabetes in the long run.
4. Nutrition
From the nutrition viewpoint, there is no dietary value found in cola and other soft drinks just because of processed sugar which is one of the key components of it. This will increase the amount of toxin influx in the body and reduce the insulin resistance. In this situation, you may be harmed by disease like diabetes. Therefore, beer is known as healthier than cola since it contains a small amount of protein just because of ingredients used when it is fermented to drink.
