Even as a kid I liked sleeping on the rug better than my bed. when I hit college it was the in thing to do (ageing hippie here). We've owned beds, some I liked!
When we were on the road doing festivals/flea markets/powwows etc., we slept on the ground, on our tables, and boxes of merchandise.
I truly agree that I don't remember feeling so tired out or achy as I do now, but I am 66 now...
"If your bones sink into a soft mattress then your muscles start to bear the load. This prevents them from relaxing and you get one of common modern problems of being sore when waking up." This really made me think! We're sleeping on a mattress with a futon on top. Think it's time to try the futon on its own and ditch the mattress!
Thanks for making me think about how we sleep and live!
Oh wow. Thank you so much. I am really glad that you're doing this and giving it a go. I would love to hear how it goes. Though remember, give it some time as our bodies can adapt to anything but it takes time. Even adapting back to what our bodies were designed to do will take some time if it already adapted to something else.
Though seems like you have a lot of experience already so it might be quite easy for you to switch things up.
Let me know how it goes.
And I am so happy that this wee post had an impact on you and made you think :). That's what gives me meaning :).
Again, thank you for reading it, reacting, thinking about the idea and giving it a go.
And sleeping on merchandise and tables sounds awesome :).
I am called a hippie, too though I'd say it has very different meaning now.
