Out of these, only seven such research were in which 1003 people were included for an average of six months.He clarified that the use of artificial sweeteners does not reduce body weight. While long-term research showed that long-term use of artificial sweeteners increases the risk of increased weight and obesity. It also increases the risk of other health related problems, including heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure.

Manitoba University's Assistant Professor Ryan Issicowsky said, "Millions of people regularly use artificial sweeteners in their catering.
