'In new age circles there is this dangerous belief that if bad things happen to you, you’re out of alignment or not living your highest truth.'
Oh, I could write a whole book on how much that way of thinking frustrates me. You're right, though, it's pervasive and so damaging. It's also the main reason I've never dove head first into the "new age" culture, for lack of a better term. It's thoughts such as those which ring as irrational and unfair in my mind that I can't reconcile. But, I do still draw wisdom from many places. That is one big viewpoint which I do disagree with, though.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Now that, I do agree with. Wholeheartedly. It took me a while to get there in life, but now, I definitely do. It's changed everything about how I experience things since I started seeing things that way too.
It's quite literally, all perspective. We can't help the things that happen to us, but we can help how we choose to handle them. I love that song, btw. And this whole post. I'm not aware of the details of your accident, but I do wish you the best after that event. In healing, or whatever it's left for you to sort through or cope with.
