Ice Bucket Challenge leads to ALS Discovery

Remember everyone was doing the ice bucket challenge for ALS in 2014. There are reports out now that the funding raised from the participants have actually help lead to finding a gene called NEK1 (and it's mutations) which are linked to ALS. And now they have found the gene, scientists hoping to use this data to find a cure.

A new campaign is starting in August called "Every Drop Adds Up" and I'm sure the Steemit community can help out!

    This is awesome! Could you link me an article in regards to this discovery? I have a friend whose brother has ALS and would love to read this information, I bet!
