Too often people go to the gym to look healthy instead of be healthy.
This is what social media would have you believe health looks like
Health looks different on every body. I have a female client who is 5 foot 10, weighing 80kg. She is considered overweight according to the Australian BMI system (which should be scrapped in my opinion) however she is incredibly strong and eats real food. She is healthy, regardless of what she looks like. She can smash push-ups out from her toes and nail chin ups.
Of coarse as she continues on this path her body will change, but that isn't why she does it.
She does it because she takes responsibility for her well being, not to fit a societal view.
My recommendation for people is to eat well and focus on better movement
If four weeks from now you can do an exercise that was previously impossible, you are on the way to health. If you have incorporated a healthy breakfast, you are on your way to health.
Don't rely on the scales or the mirror.
Judge internally how you feel. Become in touch with your own body, and enjoy the process above all else.
Here is the latest progression in my own training, I don't focus on looking good or building bigger arms. But being able to move my body in ways I never thought I could. You should do the same :)
Yours, with Purpose.
Awesome good luck! @harrynewman

interesting.. its good to remind people about the main essence of going to the gym
It's important people understand the true purpose of why they are doing what they are doing...

Awesome post. I love this. The process of focusing on improving health and not just looks is so important. It helps us to grow and enjoy the process. Thanks for sharing.
No worries friend I'm glad you like it!
Oh... I can do a few things too :-[
@steemitri I love your page, very cool moves.
Thanks Sarah! I can teach you some mannequin-moves :-)
That would make my day! Following your page :)
If you can do things that is good :D
I like they perspective. It's a good reminder to me that being healthy I'd about the little choices. :)
Ergh I hate that BMI thing. Actually I hate weight as a measure of health in general XD
That's true. You won't believe I've seen many people start fitness routines because of the social media. They look at some magazines, some bodybuilders, and start exercise. After some time when they won't see results, they quit.
This should be for our own well-being, not to impress anyone. Just start and be consistent and the results will appear.
You conveyed really nice message :D
I couldnt agree more with this! Every body is different and made in a way that the number on the scale should never dictate how we feel about ourselves. As you said, its important to enjoy the process! The results will eventually be noticeable but people often give up too quickly:P Thanks for sharing @harrynewman !! :))
Great post. A vain motivation can set someone on the path to a better, healthier life as long as your ultimate goal is health.
