Being a teacher can be a very hard job. Not only do you teach a lesson, but you also have duties, meetings to attend, conferences to schedule, and put a smile on your face to greet everyone you meet. This can be very hard to do while sick. Even though you are sick you know it is harder to take a sick day, write lesson plans for the substitute, and try to get another teacher to take your duty for the day. Being sick on a weekend is even worse because who wants to go sit in an Emergency Room or Urgent Care.
This happened to me on Friday afternoon. I was excited for Movie Night with my husband, but my throat was feeling worse and worse. By the time I got home I was pretty sure I had strep throat. I broke the news to my husband, “Sweetheart I think I have strep”. I explained to him that it was getting pretty sore but I was thinking of looking up something online to help with how I felt so that I could go to the doctor tomorrow. Not only was I looking forward to Movie Night but my week had been very stressful week and the last thing I really wanted to do was sit in a hard chair for hours to get treated.
So what do I think I can find online to help my strep throat you might wonder? Well when I was put on an antibiotic a year ago it restricted me to not being able to take an antacid while taking it. I started using apple cider vinegar to help with indigestion and stomach upset. I found out it worked faster and I didn’t have to keep taking it like I would have with antacids. I was hoping to find something that would keep me from feeling really bad so I could wait till Saturday to go to a ER or Urgent Care.
I began my search and centered my search around something that I had in my cabinets and wasn’t too hard to prepare. I found something that I thought would work and I had everything it was calling for already at home. I figured it wouldn’t hurt me because it included everything that I cook with and eat anyway.
Here is the recipe I found.
Nikki’s Strep Cure
Ingredients:
Raw Honey
Garlic: powdered garlic, or minced garlic in oil, or garlic cloves
Cayenne: powdered cheyanne, Texas Pete Hot Sauce, Tabasco Hot Sauce
This is a generic recipe. You can adjust the mixture to taste somewhat.
How to mix the ingredients together:
Add about two tablespoons of Raw Honey in a container you can seal and put in the refrigerator. Then add 1 teaspoon of powdered garlic (or a half tablespoon of minced garlic in oil, or one clove of garlic). Then add the Cayenne to taste. You need to be able to taste it so that it will work but if you have a sensitive palette then you might want to be careful how much you add. I like using Texas Pete Hot Sauce. I usually shake out about 3 to 4 drops of sauce and that is enough to work. Stir these three ingredients together. You might can leave the mixture out because it doesn’t have anything in it that can spoil, but I find that when the mixture is cold it feels even better on my throat.
Now that you have this mixture, what are you going to do with it now?
Great question? I’m glad you asked.
How to use Nikki’s Strep Throat Cure:
Use a spoon to put about 2 teaspoons of the mixture in your mouth. This does not have to be exact but enough to cover the back of your throat. You can swallow this mixture and you should because this mixture should sit on the back of your throat for as long as you can. The longer this mixture comes in contact with the back of your throat the speedier the cure will be (Yes! I said CURE!). You will need to do this every half hour. When you start feeling that your throat is less sore you can start taking it every hour. You will need to take this every 1-2 hours until your throat hurts no more. That is when you know that you can stop taking it.
Here’s how it works:
Raw Honey is a natural antibiotic along with other great properties. Raw Honey is also great for allergy sufferers. Make sure to get honey that is from your area to receive the most relief. Regular honey will not do for this receipt. Click here to see what the differences are: http://www.benefits-of-honey.com/raw-honey.html
Garlic is antibiotic and antiviral. It also boosts your immunity and reduces inflammation.
Cayenne/ Hot Sauce increases the circulation where ever it touches. Where there is increased circulation there is healing. So when you apply this mixture to the back of your throat it is going to heat up. That means the mixture is working and soon your throat will not be as sore as it was.
