I wonder how many take time to evaluate their mental health especially in Africa where mental diseases are ascribed to supernatural causes.
It's so sad that in Sub Saharan Africa especially areas with large religious followership, religious leaders have cashed in and exploited this gap. Exorcism, Spiritual Deliverance among others are the order of the day. It's so sad that people are blinded onthe reality that we are faced with.
The human brain is arguably the organ responsible for the functioning of the entire body system. Made up of a complex network of muscles and chemicals, generating electrical impulses which it balances when one is in excess of the other.
Balance is what nature seeks to achieve and this is the most constant thing in nature. From N ewtons third law of motion, Le Chatelliers principle and the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic sides of the brain is all a function of balance.
Day to day activities, environmental pollution and other diseases have a toll on the human brain.. Asides the normal systematic functions he brain is responsible for thought, speech as well as emotions and intuitive abilities.
It wouldn't hurt if we all took some time o visit the doctor to assess the functioning of our brain instead of visiting so called deliverance ministers for spiritual guidance.
The government agencies responsible for health related issues should organize enlightenment programs to website people on the need for proper mental checkups from time to time.
There are several disorders that have been attributed to spiritual things and even the professionals are not doing well enough to change the issue. I wish the World Health Organization would invest as much into mental health related issues as they do for Polio, Measles and others.
Paranoia, Schizophrenia, Dementia, ADHD, MPD and a host of other diseases are not being addressed and gradually people are being mis directed.
This is only an awakening to our Mental Healthcare, after all the entirety of a man's health depends on the soundness of his mind.
