Yes it's definitely important to be educated on the issues so you can take preventative steps to protect & maintain health.

About iodized salt: it's not an optimal form of iodine, and you're shorting your body significantly if that is the only source of iodine you are depending on. In fact, it is not even iodine but iodiDe with a "d" that is added to that salt, and mounting evidence shows that the body doesn't even absorb that efficiently. Plus, it's processed with other chemical toxins.

You might get the bare minimum requirement to prevent enlargement of the thyroid (goiter) from that salt, but that is nowhere near what the human body actually needs for real health. This is a really important issue as well, and many people have been misled about their iodine needs as well as how much they get.

One of the properties of iodine is detoxing halogens & heavy metals, so it is no surprise that we are seeing a huge iodine deficiency in the population correspond to a huge rise in toxicity.
