Wrinkles, pigmentation changes, and loss of skin tone are associated with aging of the skin. When aging occurs, the epidermal layer is thinning, although the number of some cells remains unchanged. The number of cells containing pigment (melanocyte) also decreased. The function of these melanocytes is to protect the skin from damage, such as absorbing ultraviolet light. The characteristics of aging skin is the skin becomes thinner, more pale, and more clearly visible what is under the skin. It also began to appear pigmentation spots on the skin that are exposed to sunlight, also called age spots or lentigos.
