More keto tips and tricks!
There are certain vegetables out there with a higher carbohydrate count that will actually kick you out of ketosis. Obviously potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, beans, and other starchy foods are not vegetables at all and should be avoided completely on a ketogenic diet.
However, the following 8 vegetables should be part of your daily diet and nutritional intake and you can eat as much as you want without worrying about carb count. The carb count alone is so low and the fiber count just completely annihilates the carbs.
Kale: Very high in vitamins and minerals. Very low in carb count...can be added to salads, cooked in stir fry, etc. Kale even has some omega-3 fatty acids. One of my personal favorites.
Cabbage: A staple on a ketogenic diet due to its low carb count and prebiotic properties. Cabbage also contains sulfer which in this form is good for your health.
Asparagus: Yes, it will make you pee smell weird but it's a great veggie on the keto diet. It has a very low carb count and is packed full of vitamins and minerals.
Broccoli: Another of my personal favorites packed full of vitamins and minerals as well as omega-3 fatty acids.
Celery: You can literally go ham on celery, just don't go ham on the peanut butter or almond butter you spread on it. You can spread some low carb nut butter on celery for a very tasty keto treat.
Cucumbers: This is just an awesome vegetable. You can literally grow this one very easily in your backyard. This past summer I grew some in my garden and I would go pick some and just eat them up right away fresh. You can eat as much of these as you like.
Olives: Many different forms to choose from. This is where we get olive oil. Packed full of good fats.
Brussels Sprouts: A very tasty veggie cooked up with sea salt, pepper, and other spices.
All of these veggies cooked and stir fried in bacon grease, coconut oil, or olive oil with sea salt, pepper, and other spices make a great addition to any meal.
Another great benefit to these vegetables is the phytonutrient count found in each. The are chemical compounds produced by the plant that are very beneficial to the human body.
That's it!
Now go eat your veggies!...
