Posture and its role in your long term wellbeing By Dr. Dan L (Chiropractor)

Welcome and I invite you to see for yourself what posture does for your well-being! When we are young it is natural for us to develope curves in our spine as we progress from infancy to adulthood. Begining With the curve in the neck taking place as we crawl and observe the world from hands and knees on the ground. This stage is also a stage of great brain development as cross-crawl exercises increase the brains connectivity from right to left and left to right. Allowing for the two hemispheres of the brain to communicate improves our ability to learn, intergrate new information, and be creative in all the wonderful and colorful ways we do. As we develope the curves in the spine we are also creating intergration of brain and body dynamics like balace and coordination. So the drunken sailor of infancy blossoms into the more dexterous nature of the child with new skills and abilities of communication with others through speech, text, and drawing.
The more upright nature of this stage leads to the developement of the other curves with-in the spine like the curve in the low back, often refered to as the small of ones back. Balancing in the uprigh position strengthens the forming curve in the low back. Seen by engineering eyes bridges, tunnels and arch ways impove their strenght by disappating forces throught the use of curves. Another way to see the strength curves make is in bow and arrow use. The other curves both in the mid-back and sacrum develope as a result of the primary curves described above. Taking care of these curves through-out life is an assett that will pay dividens till your final day.
Unheed this responcibility and pay the price of spinal decay, dis-ease, pain and suffering. It is easy to see the difference between people who have the behaviors that support good posture and those that have not taken care of the most important bones in the body, the spine. The bent over, humped, twisted, older looking individuals suffering aches, pains, and unable to look up at the stars have mostly lost out in the quality life we are capable of having. That is a fate I endevor this blog and information presented is meant to prevent or reverse if such a situation has begun.
Following blogs will address simple cost effective or vitually free ways to identify problems, their cause and how to begin correcting them. As I grow in being a bit more tech savy videos and media content will color and enrich the content provided. You have motivated me to go hang in my inversion table when I get home.

Thanks for the post.

Love the correlation between development and curvature, never saw it that way.
