RE: Nebula Genetics: Another project being built on the Enigma protocol

in #health7 years ago

There is a risk any time any data is uploaded to a computer that there could be a backdoor. At the same time if you want to receive the benefits of knowing your own genetics then you have to get your genes sequenced and analyzed at some point. Additionally, hackers can just steal your genetics if you use public rest rooms or anything else if the sensors become accurate enough so I see this more as do you want your data stolen by hackers or do you want to get paid for the beneficial uses?

Hackers do not care about laws, or privacy, and as soon as technology enables them to violate us in every kind of way we should expect them to do it. The people who want to do legit research to help people do care about the law, and privacy, but cannot access our data in a secure manner. In addition, if we go to 23&Me or similar then they get control of our data not us, and they monetize our genetics not us, so the main advantage we get from this is control of our data and ability to monetize it ourselves.
