My secret into never catching a cold

I remember having a hard time in having a cold, especially when sleeping and like you have this clogged nose which bothers you alot in many ways and makes you uncomfortable. In addition, the snot that you have to contend with in the process. Sometimes a cold doesn't produce enough snot but only a blockage on your nasal passages and even though you tried or manage to expel it, the fact that you have a cold really has a nuisance against your well-being.

Before, I was treating it with a menthol rub which I dissolve in hot water and then I make a funnel out from a piece of paper, I cut off the pointy part from which I put on my nose and the wide part of the paper funnel I direct to the small basin from which I had dissolved the menthol rub and then I begin to inhale the steam with infused menthol. It somewhat offers a relief but really it does not work. After inhaling a lot off the vapors, my nasal passages still are clogged. It seems that these menthol rub preparations are a scam, they would false advertise that their product offer a cure but their product does not work for colds.

Luckily there is a fine solution for not catching cold, ever, and that is by regularly taking some vitamin C. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant, and it means that it protects the cells from being damaged by oxygen. The effect will be for some reason gives your body a resistance to infections, catching a cold included.

Another fact that the vitamin C does for our body is protecting our skin from sun damage. It makes our skin resistant to the darkening effects of the sun's rays or at least hasten the re-enlightening of the skin if it you had been exposed for quite a while. Overall it makes the skin more fresher, and fairer.

Vitamin C works wonders for hastening the healing of wounds. If you are regularly taking it and you got a cut on your skin, it will heal faster, and so, if it does that on your skin, so maybe it does better inside your body as well. How much vitamin C then is required for you to take each day? A tablet each day is already OK as for my experience, but it is better for you to take it in divided doses, like 1/2 in the morning and the other half in the evening. The common synthetic vitamin C works. You don't have to spend much on any other antioxidants because vitamin C is just sufficient enough to make a difference especially for protecting you from ever catching a cold again.

Thanks for sharing. I do this as well. Even with my health issues (beating cancer, etc) I don't remember ever catching a cold or flu since I was a kid. I buy only vegan organic supplements like Vitamin C. They have good pricing at vitacost dot com. Cheaper than cvs usually.

I hope that you defeat your cancer and other health issues soon @magick323. You are not alone, I am in far more difficult situation, I am just maybe strong enough to last awhile. Wishing you the best.

I beat cancer (so far), if my other doctor doesn't put me back in the lung transplant program for the other disease, I might have a chance. Makes me appreciate each day. You are in my thoughts and prayers! ((Hugs))

That really is a different kind of big health problem to contend with. It's just funny now that we are consoling each other with our own battles.
I am also making most of my time so when I cannot sleep I am here diverting my mind for a while. Thank you.

Having a grade school aged child in the house who brings home every single germ in the school makes it challenging to stay healthy sometimes. We're going to start a vitamin C regimen before the new school year. Thank you for the post

As a matter of fact I'm starting right now. :-)

Yes @big-ken-nj I can attest to that Vitamin C when taken regularly will make you immune into having a cold. But it is an utmost importance never to skip it for a long time and you will discover why.
Thanks for the support.

Yesss vitamin C is great for preventing colds. Here in Québec where we have very cold winters (-25•C) we use it too... If I may suggest something else, it's using Echinacea when you feel the first symptoms of a cold... Very effective... You could do a post on that ;)
Your friendly nurse,
Isabelle ;)

Yeah @jamisa Thank you my nurse.
I heard about Echinacea, some say it boosts the immune system but I never had the chance to try it because really, Vit C is sufficient enough and it's more economical too.

Makes me want to pop into my local health food shop and pick up some supplies, cause I ain’t getting what my body needs. I’m billing it while I’m killing it.

The Vit C @ghostcode is the must-have vitamin as it gives us protection from a bothersome cold permanently plus the other great benefits included if we take it regularly. I am contributing it into my longevity, people in my condition usually doesn't live this long LOL. I am way overdue that my body is acting weirdly now.
Thanks for the support.

I’ll get some Vitamin C capsules for nice an easy pill popping!
You’re a fighter and your job is not yet done. Universe says so :)

@cryptopie Fresh Citrus is my secret remedy too!
Ha-ha, guess it is not so secret LOL 😃 thanks for sharing!

That's good @ronmamita
But the point is that a tablet of vit C will give you more of the good stuff than having to eat a lot of citrus fruits.
But if you eat a lot of citrus regularly, maybe it will help.

@cryptopie I've found citrus to help and as a general practice I avoid synthetics unless I can't get the natural.
