Throughout the years numerous peer reviewed papers has been published suggesting a causal relation between Toxoplasma infection and diabetes. This even to an extend where scientists suggest a new classification for "Toxoplasma induced diabetes".
Genetic studies has proven how there are commonalities in the Toxo infection method and subsequent immune system malfunctions that leads to diabetes.
Yet - no one is doing anything and now there is another article underscoring this:
"..a significant reduction of insulin expression in the islets of chronic infection group was detected in association with a significant increase in serum glucose concentrations. Pathological examination revealed the presence of T. gondii zoites adjacent to the islets of Langerhans and in pancreatic parenchyma..With chronic infection, there was a significant reduction of islets number and sizes in association with grade-1 insulitis"
(Translation: The scientists found Tg parasites in pancreas and a clear relationship with diabetes)
One wonders how much scientific work it takes before we collectively realizes the full picture of Toxoplasma gondii?
