What is Passive smoking, and how it's killing us.

Good day to you dear Steemians :)
Today i want to share with you my knowledge on Passive smoking.

What is passive smoking

Passive smoking also known as second-hand smoking happens when we are exposed to the cigarette smoke and we inhale it. Sometimes we don't pay so much attention to it but statistics shows that more than 600 000 people die from passive smoking including 165 000 cases of disease among children. (This is the most terryfing thing for me, innocent children are being killed by other people or even their uneducated parents...)

  • Lungs cancer

  • COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)

Lungs cancer:

What many doctors believe smoking causes lungs cancer by damaging the cells that line the lungs, for example if you inhale smoke (which of course is full of substances that couse cancer) Changes in the lung tissue occur almost immediately.

Your body at the beginning may be able to repair the damage but if you continue inhaling the smoke, normal cells are being increasingly damaged. Over time, it couses cells to act abnormally and eventually cancer is developed.

COPD:

For Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease common symptoms are shortness of breath and cough. It's a progressive disease which means that over time it gets worse*, for example walking up stairs, running or other activities can become difficult.

Chronic bronchitis and emphysema are old terms that were used to describe different type of COPD. In chronic bronchitis the airways that carry air to the lungs, become blocked making it hard to breath.

For emphysema, healthy person has tiny air sacs in their lungs that make them like balloons. They are getting bigger and smaller as you breath. But when emphysema occurs air sacs are dmaged and lose their stretch what couses less air gets in and out of the lungs. This is what is called short breath.

Sidestream smoke is 4X more toxic than normal smoke and contains *3X more carbon monoxide as well as 300X times more ammonia... Ammonia is usually found in cleaning products and hair sprays. Inhaling second-hand smoke increases the risks of heart disease and lung cancer BY 25%

APA has stated that more than ONE MILLION asthmatic children have had their condition worsen because of exposure of second-hand smoke... The smoke also couses that children have learning and reading deficits because of the exposure.

There also other things that are coused in childrens bodies because of exposure to the smoke:

  • Older childrens that have their parents smoke get sick more often.
  • Wheezing and coughing are more likely to occur in children who breathe second hand smoke.
  • Smoke can trigger asthma attacks much more often in a child with asthma.
  • Children that have smoking parents usually have more ear infections

So as we see we should not ignore passive smoking. If you are exposed to it please do something about it because it harms also you. The same massage is directed to smokers, it's your life and you can do whatever you want as you are behind the driver seat, but please think about other people especially children that are around. Do it outside or somewhere where children and other people are not exposed to the smoke, children are innocent and don't have to suffer from our bad decisions.

Follow, upvote and resteem it's important information. :)
Much love and have a nice day <3

Yes a good PSA, people definitely need to stop smoking, they already banned smoking ads in many places, normally I don't agree to bans but in this case it can cost a lot of money in healthcare and massive damages to entire societies, so I kind of agree to that.

But instead of bans, it's just better if people just educate other people, show them deterrents what happens if they don't quit smoking.

I have mentioned your article in my article:

Oh, thank you!

I need to quit smoking

Yes you should! It will really improve your health and even how you feel!

want to quite also but pressure from life and work makes me feel relax and think what to do next, my family don't knew it though, I want to quite but I'm here in a frozen country :-(

If you have family then there are huge benefits, you might see your kids growing for 10 years more since thats the averge time that you sacrefice for smoking.

The solution is fidget spinners!

If you can stop people from smoking with it, go for it!

Some people smoke because they don't know what else to do with their hands, they want to give themselves some consistency. So that can actually be a pretty good solution!
