I'm getting right back to action, Going Back To Back like its Drake Track.
Only this time I'm putting on boxing gloves and getting in that Square, Circle and putting on another MVP Style Show.
a lot of people ask me if i feel restricted when fighting under the rule set of Boxing, As its completely different to the rules of Mixed Martial Arts. One of many things I'd learnt from my years of Freestyle Kickboxing is the ability to adapt.
In Freestyle Kickboxing, there are many organisations. World Kickboxing Association (WKA), International Sport Karate Association (ISKA), World United Martial Arts Federation (WUMA) Etc. Although they are all Sport Karate Organisations they don't all follow the same rules of combat. i like most combatants would compete in multiple organisations and would have to get used to changing tactics and style of fighting to suit the competition i was competing in that weekend.
We fought almost every weekend up and down the country and abroad constantly fighting under different rules depending on the Association. We also had the ability to fight under slightly different styles each event:
Point Fighting, Light Contact, Full Contact, Kick Fighting.
- Point Fighting
Points Fighting (Semi Contact) is a fighting discipline where two fighters fight with the primary goal of scoring Defined points/ using controlled legal Techniques with speed agility and focus. The main characteristic of points fighting is delivery, technique and speed.
- Light Contact
Light contact has been created as an intermediate stage between semi and full contact kickboxing. It is carried out with running time. The central referee does not judge the fighters, but only makes sure they respect the rules. it is scored on a clicker system or on a 10/9 system similar to boxing.
- Full Contact
There are many forms of full contact kickboxing, This particular style has combatants fighting in 12oz gloves, kicks above the waist with the exceptions of sweeps, no knees or elbows and no shin strikes, scoring each round on a 10/9 system.
- Kick Fighting
Kick Fighting functions under the same rules as Light Contact without the use of punches, The only use for your hands in this is to block.
So to answer peoples question's, Combat is combat, you give me a set of rules and ill make it my bitch, add some venom and a splash of MVP swag and you have a show you don't want to miss no matter what rules I'm fighting under.
So get a ticket and on June 15th come down to York Hall and watch me put on yet another amazing show.
Looking forward to seeing you box is that the Joe Joyce card?
