Cryptocurrency, perceived by many as a virtual currency with no physical form. So why then would Musicoin want to develop a physical hardware product? How can having hardware products benefit Musicoin community? These are questions many asked when Volareo was launched to the public a few weeks ago.
How an Ecosystem helps
Amazon, Google, Microsoft and Facebook, these are just a few of the names of companies that have recently realised the importance of having their own voice assistant/speaker in the houses of ordinary people. The industry is booming and the cause is the realisation that a hardware product helps people stay engaged with the software even when they are offline. This engagement returns back to the owner of the service in the means of usage of their online activities. Furthermore, it increases the ease at which one can interact with the service. One would simply prefer ordering through Amazon Alexa by saying “order Milk” than by ether browsing the web for 30 minutes. The same way people started preferring online shopping over physically going to stores.
Creating demand
The demand for music and Musicoins starts with the user. It makes sense then that when Musicoin has a speaker sitting in the listeners home, it creates more demand for musicoin. Making it easier for the user to listen to music over the network makes not only the owner of the speaker play more music but most likely will also cause spill over effects. The speaker is bound to turn heads and make more people curious about the network.
A gateway to the network
Besides creating the extra demand for music, it also generates numerous new possibilities. The extra demand gives new incentives for developers to hook onto the network in similar ways dTube, dSound an dLive were attached to the Steem network. This on its own is great but the speaker also stimulates interaction with the network. It gives the companies a physical product to ship to users and serves as the go to interface keeping users engaged in the ecosystem.
The speaker could act like a gateway to the musicoin network allowing users to purchase, own, listen and distribute songs.

It certainly was an interesting development when they announced it.
The challenge will be to get people to pay for something that doesn't stream mainstream artists nor do any of the things that the Alexa et al do.
However I have heard one of their Ambassadors talk about the possibility of paying fans in MC for listening to music as well as paying the artists. If they can make that happen then maybe fans can buy the speaker with the MC.
Then we have something exciting!
