RE: The Good The Bad And The Ugly: Contemplating Hardfork 20

in #hardfork206 years ago

@cryptogee,

I love the idea of being able to edit posts past their payouts. Everything else about this Hardfork seems like Steemicide.

Consider you and I. We became mates because I left some long and elaborate comments on a couple of your posts. You reciprocated. That's how relationships are created in an environment where people's only interactions are with their words.

"Intelligent commentary" is the only way a Minnow can get the attention of those higher up the foodchain ... and therefore himself progress up the ladder. Hardfork 20 and this new RC system kills that. Look at the length of my posts and comments. I'm toast. Now, only fat wallets will be afforded the luxury of verbosity.

Do you recall this one? You sponsored it in a Contest to ENCOURAGE great commentary.

Yes, I understand the stated rationale: Making STEEM SMT-ready (making sure the SMT's pay their fair share of the bandwidth). But if I'm going to be reduced to, "Nice Post" ... I'm not going to comment at all. Call it intellectual snottiness

It's all more gamemanship. Endless contortions to try to make STEEM increase in price by any mechanism other than having to earn it based upon merit.

No one, except Whales, will be able to liquidate SP lest they too become RC-restricted. New users will have to invest capital just to become viable. The new RC rules are designed to take money out of circulation (including the new money being released from the Reward Pool, which is inflationary ... price-deflating).

It's a nice theory but all it will do is motivate the Minnows and Redfish to go elsewhere. WEKU, Narrative, Minds.com, Trybe ... beckon.
