I think happiness is about what your expectations are from life to reality. Some people are happy about who they are and what they have because they don't expect more. If you continue to achieve more and more, you will never be satisfied. Because you are not in a life that you want to be and you will never be.
From a very young age, I had the opportunity to travel all over the world. (Because of my fathers' international trade) This is something I noticed when I visited other countries. In my country, Belgian people are very materialistic and continue to ask for more and more. They don't look so happy. But when I go on holiday to India, people are really happy and friendly. Even if they have less money than Europeans, they seem to enjoy life more. Because they don't think it's materialistic.
So, no money can get you happiness, but you need some money to be happy. I think no one likes to live in poverty. And of course, it is better to use a newer car than an old hammered car. But do you really need a lambo?
You can use it for pleasure, not happiness. They are not exactly the same. Because pleasures can never fill the empty feeling of your being!
It also depends on what you are used to. Like people who won the lottery, they're very happy at first. But after a while this effect is eliminated and their lives return to normal. They get used to being rich, nothing special.
