Hobbies and business. Part 3. Men's work scarves

in #handmade7 years ago (edited)

It's not a secret for anyone that the Internet is rich in various kinds of ideas and useful information that you will not find in everyday life, and once you see something interesting on the same youtube, you also catch on with the obsession to make it happen, even if it's even some little thing ...
So it happened to me this (regular) time. Namely, I liked the scarf, its "drawing" (in the photo below),

and an uncomplicated knitting method, which, as it turned out, is not known to people professionally engaged in knitting and crocheting (talked to them at trade shows). After watching a video and reading various forums, I ordered machines of all sizes on AliExpress,

and while the goods were on the way, I began to search for yarn. In our market, the most suitable were 2 types of Turkish yarn:
KARTOPU GIPSY (50% wool and 50% acrylic) with a density of 100 grams per 100 m - for men's scarves, the fact is, because we do not recognize the type of "pricking".

ALIZE SUPERLANA MAXI (25% wool and 75% acrylic) with a density of 100 grams per 100 m - ideal for women's and children's scarves (not "pricked").

It is recommended that such a density of yarn (can be denser), so that it is dense and warm.
Time passed by the spring, and the winter is relatively warm (-5 +5), but as they say, "better late than never!" And having received with aliexpress a long-awaited parcel

and having bought the yarn, I proceeded to "business." For the first evening in the light "whirled" the first skein of yarn. As a result, for 4 pm the scarf was ready. Well, then it was not time to stop ... I tied the scarf to my son, then to my daughter and my wife (my daughter complimented me: "They used to look at me on the street, now - on a scarf").
And here is the videoinstruction:

In general, there are several drawings, but this most beautiful, light and scarf turns out to be original, dense, soft, at least on sale you such precisely will not meet.
A little information from your own experience:
The length of the scarf is enough to put it on 2 turns, as in the first photo, or, as it is now fashionable - a "boa."
Male scarf - 21 cm wide, 2 m long, yellow machine, all 18 pins in a row are used, consumption is 4 skeins of yarn;
Female scarf - width 17.5 cm, length 1.7 m, yellow machine, 15 pins in a row are used, consumption is 3 skeins of yarn;
Children's scarf - 14 cm wide, 1.5 m long, a red machine is desirable, all 12 pins in a row are used (although it is possible and on 12 pins on a yellow machine), the consumption of 2 skeins of yarn;
This method has several advantages compared to the traditional method of knitting on knitting needles:

  1. There is no need to constantly monitor the tension of the thread, since the thread is wrapped around the pins at the entire row at once, and fixed at the end of the row, after which just loops are looped (see video);
  2. The method is so light that it is even accessible to the child, after several days of work, knitting is performed almost on the machine;
    Here are the results of my obsession :) Scarves on the photos are arranged in chronological order: my, my little son's, daughter's, wive's (in this order were orders from family members ...)

    In the meantime, I decided to take advantage of the summer period and impose children's scarves for sale on the brightest colors (until 9 colors, 6 scarves are ready), so to speak, prepare for the autumn-winter cold.

    Well, like the whole layout of what and how ... For someone my post can come in handy as a small business idea.
    As an option, using large machines, you can knit chic seamless plaids
