Today my best friend lost his right hand...How should i act with him? [NOT FAKE]

That maybe looks as a fake story, but it's real, believe it or not.
It was around 4-5 am when i received a call from one of my friends telling me that our second friend was being hospitalized, couldn't have the time to ask for further information, wore my flip flops and went as fast as possible in direction of the hospital, here some of my other-friends told me they woke up earlier to prepare the boat (they sometimes organize boat-fishing trips for our group) but while going to the port where the boat we owned ( everyone of us payed a bit for it ) was parked, while going there my friend ( the one in hospital rn ) who was driving lost control of the car, and somehow splashed into a streetlight where a fragment of metal came just into his right hand, and doctors had to amputate his hand because they said it was too late to save it...
He is still under anesthesia, he doesn't know that he will never be able to fish like before ( it was hi passion), how do you think i should act? what should i tell him once he's woken up? please help me i'm desperate.
