Number 1 - Have a plan
There is nothing worse then getting to the gym only to walk around mindlessly, feeling like you don't fit in anywhere.
So plan your gym session.
Whether it is a rough guideline on what you want to train. For example 20 minutes on cardio 10 minutes on abs and 10 minutes on arms.
Or a very specified and detailed workout plan (this is more my style). For example:
Today I will work on abs.
- 3 x 15 sit ups
- 3 x 15 swiss ball crunch
- 3 x 30 second plank etc.....
This can help so much and allows you to have a plan to refer to if you feel anxious or lost on what to do.
Number 2 - Have a playlist
Yes! Have a playlist of your favourite upbeat songs. This will make you feel a lot more confident and prepare you to smash out that workout. Start listening to music while you get ready for the gym or on your way there. Having some of your favourite songs can really calm your nerves and make one feel a lot less anxious when walking into that gym!
Number 3 - Find a gym buddy
Having a gym buddy can not only make the gym a lot more fun but it is also a really comforting feeling knowing you have support at the gym. Make up some super-sets/programs or find some fun partner exercises. Going their with a friend can make the gym a lot less intimidating and will allow you to gain more confidence and familiarity in the gym.
I hope these tips help you out when you are working out!
