Tactics & Analysis
Man United
Mourinho will field a conservative team and make sure Red Devils are compact and tight defensively to contain the free-scoring Liverpool team from pushing forward. The Special One will instruct his full backs to mark both Salah and Mane closely to prevent them playing their usual game. Alexis Sanchez will be tasked as the counter attack fulcrum for United to break down The Kop's defense.
Liverpool
Liverpool enters this game with high morale after advancing to the quarterfinals of Champions League after thrashing FC Porto 5-0 on aggregate. Although Liverpool played a Champions League game in midweek, it was more of an exhibition match for them. The Kop's forwards have been in explosive mode all season long and expect them to play an attacking football at Old Trafford.
Injuries & Suspensions
Man United
Marouane Fellaini is back in contention as he has been sidelined since January 31 with a knee complaint. Veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back in training ground and centre-back Eric Bailly is fully fit again, but Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Daley Blind remain absent for the encounter.
Liverpool
Jordan Henderson, Andrew Robertson and Georginio Wijnaldum are all available again for The Kop. Henderson has trained after injuring himself against FC Porto in the Champions League on midweek, as have Robertson and Wijnaldum. Nathaniel Clyne is not fully fit yet for a match at this magnitude.
Team Formation
Man United
Red Devils will play with the 4-3-3 formation to mirror its opponent's formation. Lindelof would be dropped after a horrendous performance against Crystal Palace and Bailly should get a nod ahead of him to partner up with Smalling. Ashley Young would retain his position at left back. Midfield general Matic will continue to shield the back line with Pogba & McTominay. Mourinho might shuffle his forward line and give Marcus Rashford the chance to start.
Liverpool
Liverpool will stick to its 4-3-3 formation that has proved to be a success the entire season. Karius seems like he has cemented the goalkeeping spot ahead of Mignolet. Van Dijk would resume his duty and partner up with Lovren and Robertson should slot in to the left back position. Mo Salah will slot in to the front three with Firmino and Mane.
