This article is to share with you my Top 5 rifles that i would take into battle. Criteria that was used for these decisions were, Ammo availability, magazine capacity, Caliber, aftermarket support, reliability, military users, and accuracy.
FN SCAR 17s – A true king of battle for rifles. The design of the FN Scar 17s has set the standard for many short stroke piston competitors in the market. Besides its ergonomic features/light weight, the Scar brings a heavy .308 round to battle field and brings along its friend called accuracy. Now its primary role will not be to serve as a sniper rifle anytime soon but it holds its own in this fight. The Scar 17s and known as the Scar Heavy will continue to dominate the market until another competitor arises. The FN Scar 17s has come a long way from only being the “cool” gun in Call of Duty, and is now in the hands of operators and civilians. The aftermarket support for this rifle is growing more and more branching off of companies like Kinetic Development Group and companies alike. Besides the price tag on these rifles, we feel one would be hard pressed to find a better alternative.
M16/AR15– The current day adult “lego” rifle has made its way to number two on our list. This is primarily due to the fact that as time goes on, the number of complete rifles being sold is on the decline due to the ability for users to customize their firearms to make them more of an extension of them selves. Firearms are like cars, and lets face it, if we could find a way to make our cars look and operate better while being unique without becoming tacky, We Would. The AR15 has a proven track record over the years within military service and competition shooting. They have made their way into the hunting community as they have proven to be a more than capable option for hunters. All this while providing the caliber options for 223, 5.56, 300BLK, and More. Aftermarket support is insane for these rifles as they are like we said, Man’s “Legos”.
IWI Tavor X95 -One of best made and battle tested bullpop style weapons on the market. Best improved feature is the removable picatinny covers on the foregrip. This rifle provides all benefits of an AR15 in a smaller package. Well, at least it feels much smaller even though its rocks the 16in barrel required to not be an NFA item. The Magazine release has been updated to function much more like that of an AR15 so that those who are used to the ergonomics wont skip a beat in here operations.
AK-47– These firearms are almost a necessity when it comes to consideration for mention. It has provided numerous years proven ruggedness, durability, reliability, and all at a decent price. Aftermarket support for these rifles are not quite as prevalent as the AR15 community but have had the support for quite some time now. We are continuing to see a move towards the more “tactical” AK47 rather than the traditional option of wood furniture. We think this is the case because like the AR15 everyone likes to make theirs unique and with personal fitment. The AK47 will have a chance to make it higher on this list some time soon (PendingKalashnikov USA AK ALFA rifle).
CZ Bren 805 -Thought to be a Scar17s killer upon introduction, this pencil barrel battle rifle is one of CZ’s best weapon yet. Although it does not boast as many great features its King (Scar17s), it undoubtably has earned its spot in the top 5. As a closer comparison to the Scar 16S or the ACR, This rifle has been know to have one of the smoothing actions on the market right out of the box. The trigger in this rifle is also known to be one of the best on the market. This beauty comes in a pistol variant that makes for a great SBR for those wanting to take a trip down the NFA lane.
Side Note: As we continue to move forward into the future, the weapons of today are being equipped with more and more advanced optics. We have found that a majority of these “battle” rifles do very well with the right setup. Sure they are setup right out of the box to function greatly with iron sights, but one huge advantage that will serve as a force multiplier is one of the following: red dot sight, 1-4 power scope, or a combination of the two. Popular versions of the Optics are the Trijicon MRO, Trijicon RMR, Vortex Viper PST 1-4×24, Aimpoint Procomp/micro and EOTECH.
