Feeling Young and Old

in #growth2 years ago (edited)

I’ve been swept back to the 90’s, when mIRC came out and immediately overwhelmed me. I didn’t understand the coding and commands. There were many times I almost shut down to it. I kept my head in the game, and before long, I was moderating my own room.

I was starting to feel a bit old these days, as Web3 crept in and I cowered in the corner.

Then I skipped into a Twitter Space tonight and now.

I’m here making my first post in the Hive, and suddenly I feel young again. I’m going to persevere and learn this amazing new way of doing what I love to do; tell stories.

I’m appreciative of community and the time so many people put in to help folks like me stay in rhythm with the movement of technology.

Hi vennie we briefly met already in a comment, and great that you joined.
Why not do an introduction blog.
We feature new 🐝 bees on hive in @heyhaveyamet a project I do with @jamerussell. Look there for examples. Let me know when it’s up and we will upvote and feature you there. Maybe that helps with nee eyes your way

Happy new week

Thank you very much. I li e this idea and will definitely do a post for this! I appreciate the introduction, being a new 🐝. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Great looking forward to it

hey .. awesome to see you've done a first post. Well done. It's a good practice to put your image sources on your post.. just a note at the end with a link to the source is great.

Thank you! If it’s a Google search image, is that a proper credit here?

oh dear, Google is a search engine that points to sources. So, no, don't use Google as credit for anything. Because we earn on Hive, what we're doing is commercial. We need to use images we either own ourselves or have the right to use.

There are sites where you can find a wide range of images to use free and for any purpose. Best to link to the source still though. Some popular spots are:

pixabay.com
pexels.com
unsplash.com

There are others though and if you do some searching around at museums online, many of them put a creatives commons licence on their public domain images.

Thank you so much for these tips. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Hey there! welcome, and congrats on your first post!

Thank you! 🙌🏻

Hi Vennie!

What a beautiful debut to Hive! Lovely to see you here!!

When I was in my thirties, I was too ill to continue my education. When my learning stopped, I began feeling old. Two years ago, I began a couple of cohort-based courses. Although I was overwhelmed much of the time, I was learning new things.

I found it anxiety provoking, even, but there was something I noticed I didn't feel.
I didn't feel old.
So I'm with you.
Here's to Hive!

Oh you are so wonderful. I get all of this. I’m so glad to be on this journey with you. Thank you. 🙌🏻

VERY nice to meet you. I heard about you from @shadowspub
BTW, it might be a good idea to mention the source for your images... sometimes there are some on HIVE who tend to get snippy if sources arent mentioned.

I also dropped a delegation of some HIVE to help you get started!

Thanks so much for the welcome and the tips. I will add credit for the images. I appreciate you!

Looking forward to more from you!

ONE MORE tip from an old mansy on the blockchain, to a newbie, if I can indulge?
I truly appreciate the Upvote! However, each action for you on the blockchain has some cost in RC( resource credits) Typically, new Hive folk have a very small amount and should save theirs for one post a day, maybe 4-6 comments (abt 3 sentences) a day, and a vote or two, tops. Hive RC takes about 5 days to regenerate, so, using too much all at once can leave unable to do some things. It's complicated, but for now, I m OK if you don't Upvote my comments or post. I understand what it takes for you to get started.

During SPACES, ask Shadows about RC and she will tell you about how she and I along with others were once members of a WELCOME WAGON, training new members in best practices on HIVE.

Welcome to Hive Vennie :) I bet you'll enjoy it here :) All the best!

Thank you! I feel I still have a lot to learn, but I’m ready. 💙

Learning doesn't stop and that's the same here in Hive :) There's always something to learn. Enjoy your adventure :)
