To me it has never been. I haven't ever learned more than during the time on steemit. Besides, I have turned my hobby (surfing) into a second business (surf blog / videos). Last but not least, and this is probably the most important point: I've met amazing people from all over the world I wouldn't have known otherwise.
These are my personal arguments which don't have to necessarily match with your experience. But everybody has the same chances here :-)
