They are a testament to how social media has replaced the participation award and made it so people dwell on seeing up-votes and likes to make them feel big or good about themselves and important. First off , lets stop saying " mining Gridcoin " since you are rather new all 3.8kW/hr and all we do not mine... You are not discovering Gridcoin , you are not discovering Gridcoin's and you are not working with others to put together Gridcoin's. This is not Bitcoin , and the Gridcoin claim to fame is that we use the " extra " computing power from what we make people believe is an idle state of cpu/gpu when in fact that 100% cpu/gpu usage is the same in a game or processing a work unit via BOINC and dedicating hardware and power to ONLY process work units and earn Gridcoin for payment of said work all you are doing is getting paid for work like any other Joe in the street other than you are compensated far less , even less than the electricity used. Let's also address that Gridcoin is not de-centralized with its hard coded seed nodes and said DNS entries listed in /src/net.cpp and compiled into the Windows client used to create the .exe or .msi installer along with downloading fresh source indeed has listed 5 centralized nodes... This actually is a list of 9 made up of 5 DNS entries but 3 point to the same IP address and than 1 has their own round robin DNS to force the wallet clients onto said users nodes... Imagine the ways they can manipulate users stats when they host more than 50% the wallets currently online " staking " and control if the majority of the blockchain follows their nodes data or others? How about Rob's lack of ability to be reached via email and dropping the ball and letting the whole Gridcoin project get hacked? Anyways , back to tooting your own horn about your fan club to your fan club as usual... Anyways , it does no help to the science or computer world when you mislead or misinform.
