Of course they want to make it illegal. When people just get together and take care of a problem without the government help, and do a better job of it than the government does, it tends to lead people towards the "why do we need them again?" path of thought. They can never allow that without a fight, because it endangers their paradigm of control.

Well said...very well said!

Hopefully there will be enough outrage that this will not pass. Unfortunately, for every ridiculous law that gets stopped, there are a hundred more that get through. When some idiot "lawmaker" proposes a bill like this, there should be an immediate petition for his/her recall. Threaten their power and they will be more cautious about proposing laws. Get rid of them all together and problem solved.

If we all just stopped consenting to or even recognizing the system and the people who run it as legitimate, it will go long way in securing our freedom.

DOH! I learned long ago to stop thinking "they can't possibly get any dumber than they already are." They never cease to do stupid crap like this.

In their line of thinking it's not stupid crap. It's a calculated effort to exert control over people. An authoritative govt doesn't want people taking actions without their permission. That's what all the regulation and laws are about. It's not about protecting the population, it's about obeying the govt. That's why it's our obligation to disobey immoral and unjust laws and challenge authority in whatever ways we can.

Hey preacher, I'm over here standing in the choir. LOL I am an Anarchist myself you don't need to convince me of these things. That doesn't make my statement above any less true as it had nothing to do with what THEY think, I was talking about how I think. :)

understand. We all think it's stupid crap. However, my point was that those in authority are dead serious about wanting to make sure that we don't discover that we need the state to save the day. That includes prohibiting us from helping ourselves and helping others.

Yep. I agree.

Good to see you on here Brian. I'm a big fan of your youtube videos and look forward to viewing your content on here. Stories like this are proof positive that we need LESS government! This is just STUPID!

Thank you so much @distopia1. That's very encouraging!

The goal is eventually control all aspects of our lives, this is just one more asinine step in that direction.

The real reason is money. The goverment wants to charge for everything. You get taxed for making money. You get taxed for spending the money you were already taxed on and now if you want to help out someone in need.....lets tax that. Will this madness ever end.
Don't get me wrong I am willing to pay for what I use, but if I want to risk my life to help others in need, i shouldn't have to pay for it.

Brian, I was one of those in the Cajun Navy saving a couple hundred people on saturday and sunday. You have been mislead by the media. Mr. Perry does not want a fee or to legislate us. He wants to make it so that LEO cannot stop private citizens from rescuing people. He is simply suggesting for some way to have people register well in advance of an event. That way LEO cannot stop them from doing rescues in emergencies. As it stands now, LEO can turn private citizens away once they have taken over a launch point. It happened to people saturday that I saw with my own eyes. Sunday, I had friends turned away from 2 different spots by LEO saying they were not allowed to launch their boat. That is what he wants to prevent. There may be a better way to do it, but he wants to empower more citizens, not regulate them.
