To follow up upon my article yesterday. "The truth about Islamophobia - Fact or fiction" i am going to be talking about several of the grooming scandals over the next couple of days in more depths and the horrors of the victims and parents.
Today it is going to be about Rotherham grooming scandal (which i might add is still an ongoing problem) even after subsequent arrests had been made and 8 sent to prison.
Again, i do have to disclose that some of the information, can become quite overbearing and so i do want to forewarn the audience ahead of time about the horrors for the children and others over the entire time frame.
By the middle of the 1990s there was undeniable evidence available to police and child-care professionals that the grooming gangs were operating on a large scale around the country. In Bradford as early as 1991 it was detected,and a project set up in 1995 called Barnardos Streets and lanes to help victims of this new type of crime. Although, it was set up in 1995 it wouldn't be more than 20 years later, the first grooming gang had arrested and convicted within the area. The Children's charity released a report in 2011 after huge public outrage titled " Puppet on a String: the Urgent Need to Cut Children Free From Sexual Exploitation." to sum the report up
at Barnardo’s, we know from our 16 years’ experience operating specialist services in the UK that it is far more widespread than is generally recognised. And we are finding that the victims are becoming younger and the exploitation more sophisticated, involving organised networks that move children from place to place to be abused... There is a shocking lack of awareness that stretches from the front-line of practice to the corridors of government... Urgent action is required to address this, which is why Barnardo’s is publishing this report and launching a campaign calling for reform.
In 1996, when the first appearance of abuse in Rotherham had started to emerge, it became more and more obvious as per usual the authorities are very slow to react. Andrew Norfolk, whom has been an outspoken critic for many years even a decade, had uncovered a Social Services report in 1996 in the Rotherham area.
a social services investigation uncovered concerns that girls were being coerced into “child prostitution” by a small group of men who regularly collected them from residential care homes. Two years later, 70 girls from the town were said to be involved. The findings led to a one-year, Home Office-funded research project on the “detection, investigation and prosecution of offenders involved in sexual exploitation in Rotherham.
As stated above a Home office investigation was conveniently brushed under the carpet and never published because of the findings of the study and fear of being called "Racists, Bigots and Islamophobia". During the same time, it should be noted that the Headteacher at Rotherham Secondary School, had issued a letter to parents warning "Children are being used by adults for sex"
Rotherham Council was also very much aware of the abuse taking place and actually in 1996. Identifying that 3 sick brothers from the same Pakistani family, has been involved in sexual exploitation of 54 girls from the area. So it definitely can't be stressed enough that this was widely known to the council since the start of the epidemic in the area, which now engulfs the town fo 20+ years, as seen from the link at the start. I would also like to argue that Rotherham Council is a prime example of the expected response from most if not all councils up and down the country. I.E Telford and Wrekin council was accused of whitewashing it's investigation into child abuse.
At the peak of the Grooming scandal it was estimated that 1400 (remember these are official statistics and it's still ongoing) girls were victimised by this grooming gang. This was to have taken place between 1997 - 2013. Roger Stone, Rotherham council leader (labour left-wing politician) who was in charge ever since 2003 had stepped down with immediate effect and stated.
"I believe it is only right that as leader I take responsibility for the historic failings described so clearly."
Although his empty platitude was cute, it done absolute JACKSH!T for the victims, or their families and angers me to this day that these people can even sleep at night but i digress. Oh and for doing a good job most senior officials in charge at the time just moved to other managerial positions in other areas of the council......
Victims and their stories
There have been many many sick things that happened and makes me heart bleed with such anger it becomes hard to articulate words. Although this particular event took place in Oxford and not Rotherham, i see no reason as to why it could not have happened elsewhere. A girl who had threatened the grooming gang with going forward and reporting them to the police, had her tongue nailed to a table and another girl had boiling water poured into her open mouth. These intimidation tactics would have been more than effective in shutting up the girls and getting their submission from then onward.
Now back to the Rotherham Grooming. A girl tells the of the time she was doused in petrol and threatened to be set alight for failing to cooperate with her captors. Another girl talks about the time she was made to watch, with her eyes pried open, a brutal gang rape of another girl, so brutal in fact that abdominal pain and bleeding was the end result for a lot of victims. They were told that they would be next if they told anyone. As i'm sure the readers can imagine, it is very hard to deal with trauma this horrific and as a result a lot of the victims self abused themselves IE cutting, substance abuse etc and some attempted to commit suicide and one girl would repeatedly jump in front of cars to do just that. Another victim said to investigators.
What’s the point? I might as well be dead.’
Another victim was aged 12 and was found drunk in the back of a Taxi, the driver had naked and indecent images of the seem upon his phone before being taken home by the police. Fast forward to months and the same girl was found in an empty home 4 months later, with a group of men and guess what the police did? ABSOLUTE SH!T as a matter of fact they actually arrested a 12 year old for being drunk and disorderly. (yes they actually arrested the girls and not the perpetrators at the house then and there). Another victim at age 12, pregnant made an horrific statement about her child that moved me. It really moved me a lot that i have nothing to add to it.

Very often Families caught up in this situation would be completely destroyed. The family unit would break down because of the stress of their young daughters being groomed, called liars and branded as racists. Some families would become so desperate and slim on options would often end up giving up upon the child and turning them away for fear of recruiting family members into the clutches of these sex gangs (which happen(s) a lot). Other families would try to put them into care with Social Services often in vain, who just transport them away from the biological family into areas with a high Muslim presence. ultimately defeating the purpose of victims going into care in the first place. Especially considering the fact that police in 2013 were probing 54 grooming gangs nationwide and 500 supposed allegations in London and admission from a Police Constable it is national problem. A disaster waiting to happen.........
Although some may say that i am against Muslims. It really is not the case. However, i cannot help but think that shouting " Allahu Akbar " before being led away to prison rests the concerns that i have about "The Religion of Peace" in my home country. To sum up this post, i shall end with a symbolic article of all that is wrong with the authorities in handling this case. Two very brave and concerned fathers in 2014, had ran their own investigation into the grooming gang, uncovered the houses their daughters were prostituted in and attempted to remove them, only to be arrested themselves for i assume attempting to enter a private residence. i can only imagine as a father being absolutely powerless, would cause me to lose the plot.
