Is it possible to obscure your file as open perception in Google Drive?
Yes, it is possible. How? Let us see.
Normally, in Google Drive, the confidential files can be seen by you or by the person who are doubtless to you. But in folders, the case is not like that; those who are all accessing the folder can see any file which is enclosed with a shared folder. To avoid this, you can obscure your hush-hush files in Google Drive as open perception.
How to obscure your Hush-Hush Files in Google Drive?
It is very easy and simple method to do.
You can keep various versions of a file in Google Drive. Google Drive never denies doing that. The earlier version is perpetuated as it is, even after you upload a new version of a file. There are distinctive mimic categories of file versions available. You can reinstate the previous uploaded PDF file into image or a video file. The previously uploaded PDF file would be still procurable in Google Drive as obscure in open perception.
Please follow the below instructions to obscure your file.
- First upload your hush-hush files which you want to obscure from others on drive.google.com
- Then right-click the file in Drive and select “Manage versions”.
- Select “Upload New Version” and upload another file. For example, a peculiar unimaginable image of anything.
- You can rename the original file for example image/jpg, image.jpg, image jpg etc.,
The thumbnail of the file would be updated automatically in latest version by Google Drive. If anybody tries to open the file they’ll able to see only the image preview not the file.
Manage your obscure files permanently
Google Drive will not delete the previous version of any file for 30 days. Your obscure file would be available permanently in Google Drive. Whenever you want to see that file, first right-click the file in Google Drive then select Managed Versions, select the 3-dot vertical menu and you can check and keep it permanently.
You should know some more following things about file version in Google Drive.
Even if you make a copy of the file (File > Make a Copy), only the current version will be hold by the new copy.
If you admit another user to view access the file, they able to see only the current versions of the file, not the other versions.
About storage space: The versions occupy the space of original file and replacement file in Google Drive. For example, occupation of original file is 7MB and replacement image file occupies 3MB. The total occupation would be 7MB + 3MB = 10MB only.
