The tech ecosystem in Kwara state is growing fast, newbies are willing to be part of this great innovative movement.
Hash Code is a team programming competition for students and industry professionals across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. You pick your team and programming language, they pick a Google engineering problem for you to solve.
The 5th edition of Google Hash Code got a lot of responses around the world. Problems are targeted around Google engineering challenges, Google aim to give participants insight to experience what software engineering is like at Google. Past problems challenges include optimizing video serving on YouTube, optimizing the layout of a Google data center and routing Street View cars through a busy city.

To participate in the Hash Code, you will form a team; minimum of two and maximum of four people. Google critically believe that two heads are better than one because it is not just about what you know individually but about how you can collaborate as a team to solve problems.
Hash Code 2018 kicks off with an Online Qualification Round on Thursday, March 1. According to Google, the challenge will start with a YouTube live stream at 18:30 CET prompt (no Africa time). Teams have four hours to code after problem is released.

You can participate from any hub near you. Hub is a place where teams in the same area can come together to compete. It add more excitement to the Online Qualification Round because it gives participants opportunity to connect with others developers in your community.
There are currently 575 hubs across 70 countries competing for Hash Code 2018.
There are currently 575 hubs across 70 countries . Hubs are meetups where teams from the same university, office or local area can come together to compete in the Online Qualification Round side-by-side. Participating from a hub adds a bit more fun and excitement to the competition, and is a great way to meet new people!. About 65 hubs from Nigeria including 3 hubs from my city (Ilorin); the three hubs are MAL Hub located in House 6, Agba-Dam Link Road G.R.A, Ilorin, CodesSquad Hq located in Lajorin street Ilorin and Landmark University hub in Omu-aran kwara State.
Top teams from the Online Qualification Round will be invited to Google’s European Headquarters in April for the Final Round which will be held in Google Dublin where the Lucky champion will be crown.
Enough swags from Google
Its a competition full of fun, enough swags (Ballons, Google sunglasses, Stickers e.t.c.) from Google to celebrate the events, also a great opportunity to experience how Google engineers team up to solve problems.
