Steemit has certainly blessed me and I want to bless others and build up this community!
I’ll be doing a post in the near future about community building and how to succeed in reaching more people on steemit and building your following, but I was curious about something else that I’ll cover in this post.
Ever since I first started steemit back in July, I have been investing in this community. I try to encourage, inspire, and share useful information with all of those that I encounter. Often, I am even giving away STEEM and SBD. Sometimes it is in a contest, sometimes it is a response to a help request, and other times it’s just for fun or as a WILDCARD. A few times others even helped me out with some posts, and although I never told them that I would share the author rewards with them, I did.
NOT A WHALE
I thought that for just a “regular user” (since I’m not a whale or anything) I’ve probably done a pretty good job of spreading the love and blessing others with some STEEM and SBD.
I just spent quite a while manually totaling all of the info from steembd.com and here are the results.
STEEMIANS
In my research at steemdb it seems that I have sent 94 steemians STEEM or SBD out of my own pocket for gifts, help, prizes, or contests! I typed these users all manually by hand, so hopefully I spelled them all right and have not forgotten anyone. I know that with almost 100 steemians mentioned, it seems unlikely that I would have missed anyone, but if I have sent you STEEM or SBD and did not include you, please chime in below!

Wow, that surprised me that over the last about 5 months I had sent STEEM and SBD to that many people on steemit. The next question was, how much was it?
STEEM
Again, I am not exactly so technically inclined and totaled all the data manually, but the total that I came up with is:
844.718 STEEM
It is worth noting that if the price of STEEM was over $4 again, the amount of STEEM that I have given away would be worth over $3000.00 USD. Of course that is not the case currently, but still...
SBD
This is taking a while to collect and compile the data, but, to the best of my knowledge, the total amount of SBD that I have personally given to other steemians is:
401.974 SBD
Yeah, that one is a little interesting too. I mean, what kind of steemian gives away over $400 to others who are mostly strangers that he met online? Honestly, I've received quite a bit from the community too, and without steemit, that $400 would have never existed!
CONCLUSION
There is a joy in giving that can be unmatched. When you can randomly bless another person, or step in during a time of need, it is a very special thing.
Simply put, the members of the steemit community have blessed me a lot and I don't mind spreading the blessing around a bit. With my recent milestone of reaching over 20,000 STEEM POWER without really powering up and my high reputation, it is obvious that I have done very well on steemit. However, my votes don't matter much as far as payouts go, so I like to bless other steemians in the ways that I can.
Besides the actual STEEM and SBD, I have sent handmade T-shirts, Garden Seeds, and even Home-Grown Peppers to many other users too, all of which costed me some money in postage. A few were kind enough to repay me for some of the postage, but that was their choice and certainly wasn't necessary. Off the top of my head, here are a few things that I remember sending others.

I wish people like you ran Steemit, @papa-pepper. This site will be gone within very soon time - why? @dantheman got in with some really shady people and is losing his high moral, due to fakes like @ned who hide behind accounts like @berniesanders.
The whales are too stupid and corrupt (90% of them) and act like tyrants around here rather than being good people contributing.
The @currie group are Commies who dictate all things (don't believe me? go look at what they say on Dischord, it's incredible the hate they spew about Steemians).
Censorship IS REAL on Steemit, despite their claims (blockchain or not, the mainstream only care about what's visually presented).
