Twinkling in the Twilight, Riverside Hotel, Singapore – GoldenHour Photography

This recently opened hotel is situated in an old warehouse that has been completely restored.

Renovated and revitalized

When I first arrived in Singapore, I walked along the riverside and past this old warehouse several times each week. Although the building still featured some beautiful architecture and an interesting façade, it was well past its prime, and was virtually abandoned and derelict.

After some time, however, a construction company moved in. Over the next few years, the workers renovated the entire structure – inside and out.

Beyond any former glory

Although "The Warehouse Hotel" retains the name “warehouse,”  it is now much more attractive and comfortable than any warehouse will ever be.

And in the twilight, the twinkling lights create a truly evocative atmosphere. When evening falls, and when the soft lights on the façade are reflected on the still surface of the river, it appears more relaxing and far more beautiful than any other hotel.

Pardon me for just barging in but I am really fond of your banner. It's so mystical and humorous at the same time. I happen to be an Avatar, by the way and can control the four elements at my slightest whim.

I can't help but take notice on the symbolism as well such as the yin-yang and the zen circle. You must really be a person with peace of mind. It's such as lively aura that you put out into Steemit. Your banner and manner of writing really says a lot on how you view the world. Its seems that you are willing to look past the facade in search for deeper meaning and true insights - a person of wisdom I presume. I just love it! You just earned yourself a follower.

Singapore is a place I have been meaning to go to since forever. I guess I can only envy you getting there. I'll have my moment, according to the universe's time. I sure hope it will be soon.

Thanks for your comment. As for peace of mind, I have grown a bit more peaceful over the years, but ultimately, I'm still striving for ultimate peace. Peace sometimes comes slowly.

And thanks for you compliment re my writing. I am a former English teacher, and editor, and now a "full-time" writer on Steemit. And you're correct in that, when I write, I strive to look beyond facades and to express something about deeper reality of the subject -- even if, ironically, that means writing about the facade!!

Singapore is great! I lived there for 5 years, and even before I left, I continued to marvel at how supremely developed the city-state is. I say, with no reservations, that it is the peak of civilization.

Cheers!

Awesome photography Which camera you used for photography @majes.tytyty

Just a simple point'n'shoot Fuji instant camera. Nothing fancy.

I just spend time looking for interesting scenes, and then ensure a proper framing and an interesting composition, and then "click!" Sometimes, the photos turn out well, like this one.

Wooow its great keep it up You are doing good

..just by looking at the photo I cant tell that it was onced abandoned and a warehouse!
...I really do appreciate your writings/captions sir @majes.tytyty for it gives me information and insights about the photos.😊
...the still waters were like mirrors, the reflection is on point and twinkling.

Ya, with many places in Singapore, we cannot tell if they are old or new. Oftentimes, even the old building look new, clean, and in tip-top shape!

Wow. I found it hard believing that was an old warehouse

How did it transform to something this beautiful with an evocative atmosphere for optimum relaxation

This could pass for a 7 star hotel or so

Who deserves the praise for such beauty @majes.tytyty . The construction workers or your camera?

Not me! So, probably my camera. With a bit of input from those workers and the designers.

"A bit of input from those workers..."

Lol. That is mischievous of you to say, lol.

I will let them (the designers) know what you have just said.

In between, Kudos to your Camera.
It must be the best of fuji instant camera.
Isn't it?

If "best" = "simplest" then .... Yes!

O lord. You are at it again with your hilarious sense of humor.

Well, I give it to your Camera.

You have catch the right timing where the sun yet to set and the light merge in with the building and reflected by the river.

Yes, I had another bit of luck with regards to timing.

It looks more like a blue hour photography ;) Beautiful shot!

Yes, bluehour with minute spots of gold! ☺

This right here is another "oil on canvas" worthy picture.

Awesome pic man, love the reflection on the water.

Don't you like steepshot though? Feels like it could be a good fit for you.

I do not know much about SteepShot. I keep quite busy on Steemit (even preparing new series of different topics), so right now I'm content posting my photos here.

But I'll check out SteepShot.

Do you mean this blog ... @steepshot?

Hello! @majes.tytyty,
If I may ask, did you came to visit SG now or it's a photo of your previous visit?

I've been living here for almost 5 yrs and I never new about this place. It goes to show that I'm not well familiar with nice places here in SG. Lol

You have great skills in photography, I like the composition of this picture. Aside from that, you also level it up by putting a well defined and meaningful words alongside with it. #inspirational

I will visit this place this weekend and see for myself. Thanks for sharing :-)

I took it about a year ago, when I still lived there. It's on Havelock Road, right on the Singapore RIver across from Robertson Quay. When I went inside, the one clerk showed me around the hotel for a moment, then invited me to explore it a bit more on my own. Very pleasant.

Thanks for the compliment re my skills ... or lack of same. I am NOT a pro photographer, and not even very skilled. But I am good at framing and composition, so those are some of the elements I focus on. Also, I take several photos of each scene, and then discard the shitty ones. That sometimes leaves me with decent ones such as the one above.

Cheers!

I myself isn't a pro, I'm just enthusiastic about photography, in fact I just carry a point & shoot type - Sony RX1r along with a tripod. Though I wish to have the gears that the Pros have, I keep telling myself that it won't help my photography as much as my skill. I mostly go for good lighting and composition as well. As long as I'm able to show the story that I'm trying to share, then that's good enough for me.

Now the challenge for me is to effectively express the story like the way your doing, lol.

Thanks for sharing the location.
