Gold production in Mali rises to 50 tons in 2017

The output of industrial gold miners rose to 49.6 tons in 2017, up 5 percent from the previous year, a senior official at Mali's Ministry of Mines said.

Mali is the third largest gold producer in Africa after South Africa and Ghana, producing 46.9 tonnes in 2016.

Government estimates indicate that industrial mining accounts for only half of Mali's gold production, with two individual producers producing around 50 tonnes a year.
