Overcoming Challenges and Finding Joy: A College Student's Journey Home

in #goinghome2 months ago

Hallo Hivers!

The exam is done; it's time to go home. But, as a third-year college student who wasn't able to finish the tasks and activities given, going home is a risky thing to do.

Wednesday, the day after we took our last exam for finals of the second semester, I took a risk to go home and decided to bring home the activities left. Knowing that my hometown is far from the city and the internet connection is not stable, I take a risk, thinking that there is a piso wifi located in the proper area of Nava. When I am going to do the tasks and activities left, I walk one hour and a half to the proper of Nava to connect my phone and complete the said activities and tasks.

This time, not the phone is with me when I go to connect to the wifi; this time, I bring my laptop to connect. All my files are now on the laptop. For me to finish faster all my left-over tasks, I used my laptop. This laptop is owned by my cousin; she loaned it to me. She didn't use it since her course is nursing and she is busy working at the hospital (they are more focused on practical). I am thankful to her for letting me use it for a while.

When I go home (not to mention that my family is what I am missing, because it is obvious. Hahaha), cooking and baking something to eat is also what I miss about going home.

The past few days have been filled with cravings for fries. For me, if I eat fries, my energy will boost and my stomach will go happy. Thinking that there's no available resources at home and I am craving to eat fries, I buy one kilo of them in the city before taking a ride home.

When I reach home, I take a rest for how many minutes by sitting down in the corner and talking to my mother and Tito (for my father is not home; he has work on the field).

After taking a rest for a while, i and my sister decided to cooked the fries that I bring home. We put spicy cheese on it ( to taste spicy instead of cheesy). The spicy cheese is from my friend Mm,they used it in chips ( her sister Mitchie is the one who made it).

Done eating fries, my mother decided to bake banana bread.

Being a fan of baking something is what I learned from my mother. Baking is one of our sources of happiness. Seeing our family members eat what we baked brings joy to our hearts.

Writing this blog makes me realize that, as a college student, I faced challenges in completing my tasks and activities due to poor internet connectivity in my hometown. However, I took a risk and went home, determined to finish my work. I walked an hour and a half to find a stable internet connection, using my cousin's laptop to complete my assignments. Despite the difficulties, I found joy in cooking and baking, especially in satisfying my craving for fries and enjoying homemade banana bread with my family. This experience highlights the importance of adaptability and finding happiness in simple pleasures, even in the face of academic challenges.
