.........Continuation of last lession
God had told the man "You may eat all the fruit of the tree in this garden except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, if you eat its fruit you will surely die" -Gen. 1:16-17.
The man ate the fruit and was still alive; Did God deceived the man? no. Did the man died? yes
TO DIE: Means to cease to breathe. or cessation of breathe. There are two forms of death, viz ; PHYSICAL DEATH and SPIRITUAL DEATH.
Physical death is a state where one can no longer breath, while Spiritual death is eternal separation. That is a situation where one's relationship with another is severed and nothing whatsoever connect one to another in fellowship, communion, interaction, friendship, association , etc.
when God says "you will surely die". He did not mean physical death but spiritual death. Our relationship with God is spiritual and not carnal. So from the point where man disobeyed God man died. So Adam died hence God could no longer commune with him as spiritual, because of sin. God is holy and demand holiness from you and me. Every act of Disobedience to God is sin and demand punishment.
The man was walking about physically because his senses and organs permit him. He does everything possible within his reach since his body did not died, but looking critically, his fellowship, discussion, interaction and friendship with God was severed.
CONCLUSION:
The man Adam died as God said "you will surely die"
As many that know not God are death though they live.
