As an Anarchist, I believe I should be as self reliant as possible. This means I should take responsibility for my safety and that of my loved ones. I work on the K.I.S.S. system.(keep it simple stupid)
A firearm goes with me just about every where these days. As the decline continues, my current town has seen an increase in violence. I am sure most have you have noticed a drop in civility lately. I believe this trend is just getting started.
A firearm is a tool, nothing more. As with most tools a working knowledge on it's use is paramount. Safety is always our main focus. This is why the Glock is the tool of choice for a sidearm.
This is my check list for adding a gun to the arsenal of anarchy. Just basic stuff, but I have bought many a shit show guns in the past. You can learn from my folly.

  1. Cost.
Can I afford it? Glocks can be purchased used for as low as $350. Remember you get what you pay for. Glock is a solid mid level cost gun. Price point for quality and durability are unbeatable.

  2. Ease of use/training.
Can I teach a monkey to operated the weapon? K.I.S.S. The Glock is a simple platform. The weapon incorporates economy of motion, which is very important in muscle memory training.

  3. Availability of Parts/Maintenance.
Magazine pricing can catch you by surprise. Not only price, but availability can be an issue. Glock magazines are both affordable and abundant. I stay with factory magazines usually but, MAGPUL has made wonderful after market magazines for the 9mm family. This includes a twenty-two rounder.
After market upgrades are abundant as well. Not only are the upgrades many, a dumb grunt like myself can easily install them. The weapon can be disassembled with the use of a punch.
    SHTF approved.

  4. RELIABILITY!
Glock is the AK of handguns, except it is accurate.
There are a variety of durability test on the web. Check them out. These guns hold up better than McCain in Hanoi.
My police academy used Glocks with tens of thousands of rounds down range. These guns functioned like well oiled machines I was more than impressed. I have carried one since.

Glocks is the sidearm for novice and pro. Gustav Glock embodied simplicity, reliability and affordability in this system. Check them out at http://www.glock.com/GlockLanding/index.html
Stay vigilant and avoid being a victim. TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN

Sort:

Used to hate Glocks, now love them. Have a Glock 30 .45 as my primary carry gun. Had a really nice Kimber, and loved it too, shot really well, but I found myself shooting the Glock more just because it was so much easier to take down and clean.

If you haven't tried it yet, add a custom trigger connector like the Ghost or direct OEM from Glockparts.com takes only about 60 seconds to install, no tools needed. This will reduce stock trigger pull from 5.5 pounds down to a nice, crisp 3.5 pounds.
