I might just have to borrow your idea my friend! Let's face it - the only different between this an auto-upvote whale clique is that (1) this is more hassle and (2) there's more chance one of us might actually read the posts we get directed to.

I don't get or couldn't understand the "(2) there's more chance one of us might actually read the posts we get directed to." Can you give an example to this, to elaborate more?
I mean if you manually upvote my post you might actually read it - unlike some of the whales you probably just autovote each other without reading posts!
I read those posts the whole content when it finds me interesting, But of course those other posts, I just read some sentences then scroll, if I find them not quite relevant. Of course I upvoted them all , resteemed and follow them, to actually support for their growth in the steemit community.
