Github sponsor page is up (aiohivebot / coinzdense / hive-archeology)

My life still is quite a mess. Two years in, and I'm still living in a section of the same house with my estranged wife, and the divorce that we formally started a year ago now is still very much stuck, with no sight yet on when its going to be final and one of us can move out so my life can normalize again. Meanwile the legal bills don't stop comming in. The great love of my life, meanwhile, with who not just my side is complicated, is in her own country right now and is only going to come back one last time before she returns to live permanently to a place where I can't follow her because of my kids here. I hope very much that when the divorce is final and the legal bils make place for alemony, I'll still have the finacial room to be able to visit her twice a year in her country.

Both my current situation as my future situation share one thing: I'm tight on money much of the time.

One thing will change though soon, when my great love is far away, I'll have more time on my hands. Right now, because our time in my country is running out, I spent every moment that our complicate lives allow us to with her. When she is there permanently, I'll have more time. Time to do contract work to make some extra money to start my new life, provide for my kids, visit my great love, and maybe just maybe set out some poles to carve out a life in her country when my girls are bigger but I'm not getting ahead on myslef with that. Basicly I'm starting again from zero after my divorce, so whatever I want, its going to go slow and take time.

Rather than work on others people's projects though, I have multiple related open source projects that I feel I should be working on. Two of them are strictly HIVE projects, aiohivebot and hive-archeology, and the third one is my post-quantum project that aims at the whole Web 3.0 and utility chain space, not just HIVE, explicitly not just HIVE.

Right now contract work has been highly irregular and far between, so I'm sure that even without any kind of financial incentive I'm going to be working on these projects a bit more than I'm doing now. But that doesn't feel right. I want to be able to structurally work on my projects, not just when I don't have any paying gigs. And for that reason I've been looking for donations and sponsoring, as for now without any substancial success.

I've recently added a new posibility for sponsoring though, one that I had already given up on because it took so long to get approved. A while ago I submitted the info for turning my gihub profile into one that allows for sponsoring.

Today I finaly got the e-mail that my github sponsors page is now life.

I updated the repo for all my related repos to include a sponsor button:

While these are the core of my open source development right now, I'm also taking one time sponsoring to work for a 40 hour block on other open source projects of mine:

  • pyrumpeltree / rumpeltree-pp : A least authority treegraph decomposition and attentuation library in Python and C++
  • minorfs : A set of least authority file-systems
  • mattockfs : A least authority user space filesystem for use by computer forensic frameworks
  • libkisslog : A C++ logging library without singletons
  • zerovault : A zero authority site password web tool

While I'm not getting my hopes up, I'm adding github sponsoring to my list of possible donations and sponsoring options.

Oh, and for those wondering why no DHF proposal? It's because what while wto of my projects are HIVE projects, the pivotal one isn't. CoinZdense is all about the whole Web3 and utility chain space, and it wouln't seem fair if the HIVE community was to pay technology that benefits the whole of Web 3.0, next to the idea that maybe other chains would be less likely to adopt the project if it is too tightly bound to one chain. Hope this makes sense, and I'm not just hurting myself by not making a DHF proposal.

Sort:

Hope things get sorted out with your personal affairs soon. 🤞😎

Maybe you could reconsider about DHF? Maybe it will be accepted :)

Good luck anyways.
