BEHOLD THE HARVEST

in #ghsc6 years ago

This is amazing and rewarding!

I thought it would be fun to take a photo each day that I harvest the garden just to see how it all adds up. The garden is actually just starting to produce and there is a lot of kinds of food still to come, but we're doing great so far. As you can tell, we've got to eat with the seasons and enjoy what grows.

If you do not garden or grow, please consider planting a few seeds. I hope that these photos bless you!

ONLY ABOUT A WEEK OF HARVEST?

These are some photos from last Friday until today. I thought it would be encouraging to show others what can be done when you plant. Interestingly enough, each Snake Gourd that we harvest pretty much provides my family with one meal, so consider that for a moment. Additionally, all the tomatoes that we are harvesting are only from eight plants, and two of them are just getting started with producing. There will be a lot more to come. Enjoy the photos!

BONUS!

Now I did not photograph every harvest that I got from the garden of @bluerthangreen & @allforthegood, since we are watching their property and animals while they are gone traveling, but you can see that it's been blessing us too! Of course the harvest is varied based upon what was planted, but that's great to get the variety too!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

thats amazing!!! I wish the stupid squirrels would leave our tomatoes alone!

I think they are too smart knowing you plant nice and delicious tomatoes.
They do not know, you own them.
Just go slow with them, or put a big fake OWL to scare them away.

Wow!!!, your ground is really fertile.
What fresh and beautifulky rich vegetables it produce..
Am feeling like making stew and salad already..
In Nigeria, good tomatoes like this, makes lovely stews...
Keep it up @papa-pepper

That’s fantastic, there is nothing more satisfying than harvesting your own produce and nothing tastes better or gives you higher levels of nutritional value. It’s bursting with goodness! What do you do with snake gourds?🌈🌴🦋💛👏😍

Oh yeah!

@papa-pepper what do you do with snake gourds?

Eat them. Mostly stir frys so far. They are delicious!

Thanks for that, they sound and look awesome 💚

Here are a few posts where we make a stir fry out of them and enjoy it. It'll give you a good idea of how they work for us.

Hi,

Bountiful harvest is good for you.

I did not plant any garden this year.

WOW your garden is doing well, MY dad was an avid gardener had such pride in his garden would always take us for a walk around his garden showing what was growing everytime we visited

I hear your two year Anniversaryon here is coming up what an achievement :) congrats

Thanks so much! It's a blessing to both enjoy a garden and to have just about two years in already!

@papa-pepper all your doping on the Homestead must be so inspiring to those at the early stages

wow harvest times are my best times ,i can still remember those days when my grand father was alive

Nice, I started harvesting today as well. and then later I found another cucumber I missed earlier!

Cool! I'll check it out!

That is awesome, you really seem to enjoy working in the garden. Hope those blessings keep rolling in.

Awesome photography, my friend. So glad you are PUSHING gardening too. There may come a day when we revert to the "Victory Gardens" of WW II...when the store shelves are empty, and everyone will need to know who to grow their own food, or starve.

Snake gourd, huh? Never heard of that one...is it like a zucchini in the way you fix it and eat it?

We have only used the snake gourds when making a stir fry so far, but I've got some other ideas.

Right...maybe cut them in strips and fry them in olive oil with garlic and pepper...? They'd probably be delicious dipped in batter and deep fried too (not as healthy though, of course...lol...)

Such a great harvest! So many tomatoes!! How many tomato plants do you have? Also how big is your garden? Do you happen to have like a wide shot that shows your whole garden, or is your garden so big it is kind of spread out across your property?

We only have eight tomato plants producing right now. The second batch will start up in a while. The garden is a little spread out, but I'll get a new tour video up or try to climb a tree to photograph it for you.

Yeah that would be awesome. I love tour videos! :) I guess I should go back on your YouTube videos to see any old tour vids. So cool! Eight plants, you get loads a tomatoes! Sun dried tomatoes, salsa, marinara sauce, oh man so many things you can do with them, in salads, on burgers, etc. lol Interesting note, I do grow tomatoes, but I can only seem to grow the grape variety and cherry ones in my pots, it gets to darn hot here, and the larger varieties grow fine, but they always get blossom end rot. :( haha

Here is one from three weeks ago.

Wow! That is an amazing garden man!! Like seriously so cool. I am a bit jealous! lol :) Can't wait to see another update video. If you want to check mine out (it's very small) here it is. I did pack in a bit of stuff in my small patio garden. haha

I'll check yours out, and try to do a new tour of mine tomorrow. Above is my "philosophy" on building a garden. Check it out if you want!

You got it! That philosophy is spot on in my opinion and I totally agree with it. Somedays I will just stand outside on my patio and look around at my plants and trees. (and I may or may not talk to some of them...) A place to be, a place to relax, a place for other critters to live and to be. My mom wants to move out here to Arizona to be close to family. My dad (83 years old) doesn't want to really. Part of his routine is wandering around in the backyard (1/4 acre in San Jose, CA), eating fruits, pruning, etc. Then he will sit down, and their old cat will hop up on his lap. I love that backyard. I love the idea of building a little fish pond. You definitely should do that!! :)

Honestly, I'm a little jealous of you too! Can't wait to make you that video tour update tomorrow!

Nah don't be! lol :) Awesome! Can't wait to see it!

So many TOMATOES!!!

really blessed me. fresh and healthy vegetables make good health you guys are so lucky having fresh diet.

Awesome harvests @papa-pepper! It is really a blessing to have a garden. And just think next year you will plant more with different varieties of vegges.

This is a good work you can enjoy.
Have fun and have fun buddy.

I know that particular feeling right!!! It pays to farm. Proudly an agriculturist just like my fam@papa-pepper😃

Nice man! Glad to know you like to grow!

That is a mighty fine harvest!
I managed to get a small bunch of tomatoes from my new bucket garden but they are about a quarter size they should be - definitely not enough to make salsa. Next year they're going in the ground. :)

Love all those fresh veggies straight out of your own garden it makes me miss my moms garden she is a green thumb at all that like you it seems...well done enjoy all them nutritious veggies :)

I like the idea of showing the daily harvest, I might have to try that...although I can use a smaller basket as my garden is not anywhere the size of yours!
