Why people think they see ghosts

I heard a lot about people who seen ghost and I heard a lot of story about ghost but I don't know if it is real or not. Maybe, the reason why I don't believe it because I've never seen one and I really don't like to see it just to prove if it is real or not. But, there is a part of me that wants to believe because every time I hear a story about ghost by someone who seen it and experience it, it feels so real especially if the person talks about it with a serious face.
